Which Wii Should I Get?

Hello all. New to this so please bear with me.

I know that I want to use the Wasabi DX w/clip so I am about to order one. That said, I don't have a Wii yet. I looked at the chart at the Wii Drive Chip Database but I noticed that the same dvd drive chips had clip and non clip versions. My question is: What serial is my best chance at getting a clipable Wii?

Thanks in advance

Is it safe to assume there isn't a straight forward answer to this and that's why no one is replying?

are you going to open the wiis on the store to see the serials and choose the best or what?

I think it's going to be tricky to determine the Wii serial you get. You'll be most likely to pick up a LU64+ Wii so it makes little difference from a softmod point of view.

However it can make a difference when buying modchips as they are designed to run with certain Wiis only. Some Wiis have epoxy over the chips and this makes it tricky to solder a modchip in place and near impossible for a clipped chip to be installed, with these Wiis you'd either pick away at the epoxy or install a drivekey chip which sits on the ribbon cables rather than directly on the chip.

Get the Wii, read the serial number, buy your chip. This is the correct way.

If I have helped you do remember to press the little thanks button.

Well I planned on getting one pre-owned so seeing the serial wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the info given but I was hoping that there would be a range of serials that would be most likely to get one that is clip compatible. I guess I'm just going to have to wing it.

Edit: Tealc99 great banner. I wish they let SG1 go one more season but at least they gave us 2 movies to tie things up. That's fan dedication. I actually screened Continuum on the U.S.S. Midway in San Diego when I went to Comic-con 08. Looking forward to the new movies and SGU.
