Arrow Waiting on my Wasabi DX Wii Modchip

After spending a few days on and off here at this forum, I decided to order the Wasabi DX Wii Modchip w/ Free Phillips + Triwing Screwdriver. I have an LU64669*** system on 4.1u and plan on going over the video and tutorials available for install and use.

I don't want to use it for anything more than backing up games I already have, and perhaps burning other game ISO's I download and use before I buy

I go chip route in case I want to take it all apart, remove chip, and go back to regular ole Wii. I hope I can do that easy enough.

Not planning on homebrew, or watching movies, just want to keep it simple. Hopefully this will be an enjoyable experience.

I'll post back here with progress, or problems....

The wasabi chip is in. Just arrived in the mail. Came with two screwdrivers. Hope to do it later this week. Have to review some tutorials/videos before I install.

Hi,

Is it working?

I am using Wasabi Zero and Wii version 3.4, and just wondering if it is safe to update the Wii to version 4.1.

Well, tomorrow here I go.

Got some time in the morning to review a video or two and put in the DX.

Sure seems like a lot of screws.

I was a little concerned about the wasabi support email contact, I sent them an email with some questions DAYS AGO, and they never got back to me.

ANYWAY, as long as I feel like I can get the screws back together the same way I took them off, and insulate the dx chip well I feel confident all will be good to go.

I suppose I should burn the FIRMWARE update on their site? Might as well be as up to date as possible?

Well, its in, and seems to work, at least with the original disks. I have not been able to make copies yet due to the fact I just last night realized my reliable DVD burner does not burn DVD-R. So I need to go pick up a new one.

QUESTION
: How do you know what firmware you wasabi dx is at? I hit the eject button 3 times and I get the menu with several configuration options. I selected update blocker enabled as an example. It does not say what version on that screen the firmware for the wasabi is?

Also, once I do burn the wasabi iso firmware upgrade disc how to I install it? Do I just put it in when the Wii is on? Or do I set up the autoboot in the config menu and then put in the firmware disc and it boots from there?

Burn the firmware upgrade image using Imgburn, insert as you would a game and the disc will show as a GC disc ( the same as hitting eject button three times.) Press the start button, thats it. Download the latest firmware update, the beta version, confirmed stable with no problems.
Hope this helps.

this worked, and I thank you.

I needed to get a new dvd burner, and just burned my first .ISO and it played on the wasabi Wii. Seems OK so far.

I didnt do any of the wiiblocked stuff yet, figured I would just burn one and make sure not to update even if it asked even though it was supposed to be NTSC.
