the wasabi dx has 2 cores in it. when purchased it has only 1 core enabled, allowing it to run as the wasabi dx. by updating its firmware to the latest 2.0beta, it enables the 2nd core to function. this 2nd core allows it to run as the wasabi zero. so essentialy it is 2 modchips in 1. it autodetects which method u have it installed in, and functions correspondingly. however some wii chipsets are not compatible with the zero/clip, that is why i said to see what u have, that way u know if it will work.

use canadamod videos whenever u go to install it.
    1. use the wii disassembly vid.
    2. then the dx install vid
    3. then the zero install vid.
    My Wii System
    GC2-DMS Chipset - Wasabi Dx/Zero
    3.2u Firmware - HB Channel - Bootmii as Boot2
    Cios R14 - Neogamma R8B7

Oh ok I understand. My Wii is compatible with the zero chip, so I shouldn't have any problem with it. So how is your experience with the Wasbi DX/Zero? Do u see any difference than from just the Zero alone?

what do u mean by "Do u see any difference than from just the Zero alone"
do u mean the differ between just the zero chip and the dx used as a zero?
if so, the difference is u get the newest chip on the market with the dx, which is the only solution for the new wii systems, so u know work on it will be constantly continuing, and u get to use it as a zero which offers full 6x read speed and gamecube audiostreaming which isnt currently possible with the dx. eventually they will discontinue the zero standalone as its not a viable choice for the wiis. everything will now be going the 4th gen. route. unfortunately the 4th gen. chips lack a few things, so by getting the dx and using it as a zero, u get the 4th gen. chip with the full functionality of the 3rd gen. chip. make sense.

im glad it made sense for u. i tried to explain that to somebody b4 and they did not seem to grasp how beneficial it was to get the wasabi dx instead of the wasabi zero alone. it is well worth the extra $15-$20 in price difference. u wont be disappointed, the wasabi is rock solid and the creators "team cyclops" are second to none. their drivecode is the best out there.

It makes perfect sense to me as well.

bsmalley23 i hope you dont mind me asking some questions as im thinking of going to the DX + v16 clip route as well.

Basically i have a Wii (only 5 or 6 months old) and according to the wii database link you posted i think ive got a GC2-D2E that takes clips and black glue (?) LEH239XXXXXX. So i was wondering if my Wii would take the DX plus the V16 clip.

Also i was wondering if one of your site sponsors/retailers is located in the UK so i could have a look at there prices.

Last question i promise (i know you dont like answering multi questions from another thread), can you play the Wii online when you mod it ?. I'm guessing you can from the front page and the thing about tournaments but I'm not sure.

p.s. Thanks for the way you explained the Firmwire upgrades thats the clearest its been explained (dx v2.0 beta then zero 1.4 beta), that I've found anywhere on the net. Even clearer than the instructions on Wasabi.net where you actually get with the update from.
