Homebrew + WiiWare + WasabiDX questions

hi everyone,

Two nights ago I ordered my wasabiDX and i'm waiting in great anticipation of it coming in

Just this morning I got month membership to megaupload and so far i've DL'd 15 ISO's from the hippyfreaks thread over at tehparadox.com

I've also just spent the last hour and a half reading through nearly every thread in these 3 pages of the wasabiDX forum and haven't really found any absolute answers to running a wasabiDX with homebrew ...

I have modded my xbox1 however i'm a complete noob to Wii modding so forgive my ignorance ...

I was wondering - If I wanted to run WiiWare games like world of goo and megaman9 (assuming I could find backups on teh net) on my DX modded wii , would I need to also run the homebrew channel ??? If so are there any particular cautions I would need to beware of before proceeding ??

As it is right now , my wii FW was just upgraded 2 days ago ...

anything helps ,
thank you

If you want to install wiware you will need to install homebrew and softmod your wii. You can do this and have a mod chip. There are many guides depending on your situation-FW, SN version, ect.

I dont really know much about the homebrew programs at all ... I understand you can install emulators for old systems and also you can run WiiWare games for free with it but besides that , does it really do anything else ??

I'm feeling like the only wiiware game I really want to run now is megaman 9 and even then i'd be willing to spend the 10 dollars to get it - ASSUMING my chipped wii would run it without causing any issues when I go to download it through the Wii internet channel ???

Your chip should not affect anything. If you mod your wii you will be able to surf the net, play videos & music, play most of your games from a usb hd- at much fast read spead, and many other things. But if you don't need or just want any of that your chip will play just fine for you.

You can install just homebrew and many apps that will let you play emulators and movies- without doing a full softmod, but no wads.

hahaha ... this is one of those moments when the line between needs + desires gets blurred

I guess i'll just stick with the chip and keep it nice and simple ...

As much as i'd like to install the emulators on the Wii (i've got nearly every system emulator on my xbox1) I know i'd RARELY end up using them so out goes that idea as well.

As it is I DL'd 38 games last night and i'll be waiting on a couple new releases as well - i'll have MORE than enough to keep me occupied (atleast thats what I need to keep reminding myself of)

Again Maui, thank you for your help
