Wasabi DX feedback

My Wasabi DX arrived on thursday, so here's an early feedback from me.

Installation
I followed the great installation instruction videos posted here, both for opening the Wii and for installing the chip. I noticed that Wasabi have updated their chip a bit since the video, it now says which way the cables need to be plugged in on the circuit board, the two connectors are named "console" and "drive" so there cannot be any confusion.

It took me around an hour to install since I was very cautious with the layout and the screws.

My console is PAL, it came with firmware 3.4E and I left it at that.

Game compatibility
So far it's worked like a charm, no issues whatsoever, but I haven't tried many games. No lag, stuttering etc.

Backups:
Lego Batman - OK
Little King's Story - OK
Guitar Hero Metallica NTSC - OK
Guitar Hero World Tour - OK
Mario and Sonic at the Olympics - OK

Originals:
Wii Sport - OK
Wii Play - OK
Wii Fit - OK

Did you upgrade the DX firmware to 2.0Beta or did you keep it at 1.2? TIA.

I have the same report for the DX. Well over 10 games working perfectly (Mario Kart, CoD, Guitar Hero World Tour and Metallica, among others).

I just got an older Wii from a friend (lucky trade) and plan on using the DX without the ribbon cable. I've already upgraded it to 2.0 beta and it still works fine. I only upgraded it after emailing Wasabi and asking if they were planning on finalizing the release. They said since the beta has had no issues thus far they consider it the "final" release.

OK. I thought the main purpose for the 2.0 fw was to be able to use the DX as a Zero as well, but it sounds like there are bug fixes and game support enhancements as well?

I've just seen so many people complain about stuff not working on lower firmwares that I didn't really see a point in not upgrading, it was the first thing I've done after the install.

so far i havent had any issues with this chip except for the dvd drive bieng louder with the burnt disks, but hell it plays gamecube backups as well as wii backups, just remember to burn using verbatim dvd-r 8x disks using img burn at 4x speed and you should be fine...

thanks modderman for the walkthrough on the chip...

you might notice the drive being considerably louder and sounding bad. its because the slower 3x speed. games like super mario galaxy, carnival games, and other games that have the video studdering will be the culprits. if you have the originals of these games you would notice they hardly make a sound. my drivekey was so loud on those games and i could just hear the drive rippin back n forth that i feel that cannot be good for the drive long term. i wont use a 3x speed chip now. i will use the wasabi dx w/clip that way it runs normal speed and has no problems of that nature.
