Hi Guys, Pls help me too. I am confuse now. Now i am using Wasabi mod with 3.1U, and most of the newer games cant launch.
1. Does it means i must update my wii via system update inorder to play new games? *I am not using any Homebrew. Pls PM me asap as i am getting bored with old games.
If your getting the black screen of death loading latest games MadWorld etc.try this.
Enable the upgrade option in the config. menu of the WasabiDX (switch off, switch on, press reset 3 times. Disc channel will show GC boot, press start to enter config. menu)
Now by inserting game that black screens you'll get the message that an update is neccessary, update.......sorted, no more black screen, new games will boot.
Dont forget to disable updates again in config. menu
Worked for me
The ONLY reason you SHOULD NOT update the firmware is if your running homebrew and want to continue running homebrew.
ok i tried this to get into the config menu, but my dx makes me push EJECT 3 times, but by your instructions you press Reset 3 times. is that a typo or does yours really use the reset button ?

Yes your quite right, I got it wrong. Eject three times.

Errr, you NEVER want to update your Wii from an out-of-region game disc (e.g. from a European/PAL game on an USA/NTSC Wii). This will brick the Wii. So if you update from a game disc MAKE SURE it is the same region as your Wii.
I have a DriveKey and not a Wasabi DX. In the DriveKey config menu there are three options for the update blocker: All, Imports and Off. Default setting is Imports, which I prefer. What's with Wasabi DX only having Enabled/Disabled option for update blocking?
@metaverse: The original SSBB game is dual layer. The DVD5 version is a modified/scrubbed version, which doesn't work with DriveKey, either. I got the full, unscrubbed version (7gb+) and burned it on a dual layer disc (remember to set the layer break the the correct value - Google is your friend) and it works fine with DriveKey.

Yes. The Wii System Menu updates (from wifi or game discs) are indeed needed to play some of the newer games...
Games that won't run on the DX will run with Homebrew/Neogamma, but it sure would be nice if I could run them directly on the DX.
What exactly does the upgrade do? Does it load an upgrade from the Internet or directly from the DVD?
How is it games can run in Neogamma without doing the "upgrade?"
It is a for certain fact that doing the upgrade will kill Homebrew?
Anyone know the answers to these question?
Thanks
it loads from the disk, as long as the game is from the same region as the console then it is safe, i have no idea what it does but it fixes the problems.
avoid 4.2 at the moment as everything works on 4.1, the update on the disk is not a complete update, more a patch.
it does not kill homebrew.
