Ca Newbie questions about Wasabi DX

1. It works with new 4.0 menu and any future updates. Is it correct?
2. Does it support USB loader? I want to buy usb keys/hard drive to store games instead of using DVD-R.

One question is not reallya botu Wasabi DX but USB loader.
Is there any list of supported USB device? I guess probably not but just hope someone may say they tried, for example, Maxtor One Touch or Kingston USB key, and it works fine.

Thanks a lot.

Hmmm
1. I really don't think that the modchip and the system menu have effects on each other... So with one word YES (it seems like a future-proof chip)
2. Again, it has nothing to do with the wasabi.
You have to read more about modchips to really understand what they do!
About the list, it does exist somewhere on gbatemp, don't have a link though... But I remember that Kingston is compatible... Actually, they all should be compatible, for they are all standard mass storage devices... Just make sure to format them to WBFS

Oh, if you want to load games only through the USB (no DVDs) then you don't even need the Wasabi

I am just a bit worried about being brickked. Are you saying it is safer to go with DX + DVD, compare to USB loader? I have read some posts saying that using backup DVDs may shorten the life of the drive. Is it really a big issue?

Aaaah, update protection, yeees
There are many softmods that support it. If you are not an impatient type (who wants to play the newest games the day they come out), you can alway wait a few days and see what people on the forums are saying (which new games need what kind of updates), and install the neede IOSes (update files) without changing the system menu version...
I, for one, use 3.2 still, and I hope I will for a long time.
You know, there is one golden rule about not being bricked: DON'T DO ANYTHING StUPID or impulsive Just read the guides. Just some of them. Only a few pages of info, but everything is there! Follow them word by word, (oh, and turn WiConnect24 off) and you'll be safe for a long time!
As for the safety of the DVD vs the USB backup... they are different things, and I think a matter of preference... I have a lot of DVDs, and don't mind it, I'm not lazy to change them, and I am not afraid to tearc&wear my DVD-Rom drive - that's what it's for
As for backups shortening the life of the drive - this seems like a logical assumption, and I too think it's true (clicking and spinning sounds are a lot louder than with originals - you can almost feel your Wii working harder ) - but it has yet to be proven! How long do you want to use your wii? 3-4 years? Then don't be afraid of stressing the drive

What do you mean? Install the DX or the USB loader? The Wii I have already installed the latest updates from big N as of April 16th.

No I don't have homebrew yet. Does it mean that I can only go with DX and no more USB loader? at least for now?

Thumbs up WasabiDX/DriveKey

if all you want to do is play games and not have to bother with the ios's etc..updating for new games..etc...A new modchip is the way to go.

no bricking as you can with hb loaders and no maintenance, no worries..just plug and play

current atm you cannot install the hbloaders available anyways..cause of your wii fw level

modchip is better but the thing is...its not free

personally I prefer a modchip instead of hb loader since I don't have the time to keep up on the updates and this and that....and Have hbc installed....so i can run some of the good HB out there.....haha..best of both worlds

but if it was only one choice ..it would be modchip....

These days no soldering...just a quick 2 minute install then play your newest backup without issues like you may run into with HB
