SSBB and SMG...

I installed a DX on a virgin 4.0J japanese wii. I can play all other games except these two. I am even shocked that my ancient Hitachi TV plays pal games!

SSBB (NTSC-U DL image) is giving me a 001 error and SMG gives me a blank screen and the wii does not respond. I have disabled updates. Now, I noticed that before i disabled updates SMG wanted to update. But the SMG image is a NTSC-U and my wii is 4.00J so I did not want to take the risk.

I am still to try other images of the two games, but till I can get my hands on some, I wanted to know if you guys had any ideas.

Would updating through the NTSC-U SMG image disc be safe for my 4.00J system menu? I don't wanna brick it at all.

no, infact that is about the best way to brick your wii.
on the other side of this though... if your wii is already 4.0, why is your older
game wanting to update the wii... 4.0 is the up dated sys menu

I have a 3.2u wii just installed my DX with the solderless clip and 2.0 firmware. SMG(NTSC-U) works like a champ for me. How are you burning it.
