In fact it's even better than that. Wasabi DX has been designed since the very beginning as a dual core chip, yet only one of the cores was in use until now. This firmware unleashes the power of the second DX core, and allows you to install your Wasabi DX either using the regular DX installation method, or using Wasabi Zero installation method (5/6 wires or using the Wasabi solderless adpater).

Yes, this what the unused solder points and the unused connector on the board are here for. The new firmware automatically detects what installation method you chose. Using Zero installation method, your chip behaves like a real Wasabi Zero and is compatible with all Wasabi Zero Upgrades & Configuration Discs starting from 1.4B.

It means little change for most end users. Wasabi DX is still as easy to install and as powerful as before. But for resellers, installers and users that want to get the best performances their drive can offer, it can make a big difference. And it makes our chip more future-proof than any other.

Wasabi DX Firmware 2.0 BETA is now available in the Downloads section. A final release should be available soon, stay tuned!

I think this is a very clever step from Wasabi

No any Wii owner can buy the DX and then install it the way which suites his Wii better

Not worth the time of bothering for most current owners.. If I am reading it correctly it means you can get the 6x read & the GC audio fix, But neither are worth the time it would take for me to pull my wii apart & change the installation method.. But that's just me as some people may need the GC audio fix, Point of chipping my wii is so that I would be able to keep a good enough assortment of games anyway not to have to worry about gc games.. & I have to admit it my chip wasnt covered in epoxy I Would have gotten a wasabi zero instead, But even doing it again with the flexibility to go either way that flexibility isnt worth the price difference between the zero & the DX given that the DX cost's twice as much..

imho this is awesome news for new buyers

no more need to decide which will work for you, u just get the WasabiDX and either install it as DX or if you want/can as Zero

this is very good for resellers also

I Guess if money wasnt an issue sure, But last I looked the DX is 2x the Zero's cost & most people would probably have to get the clip at another 20 bucks as well.. Personally when looking at a 55+ dollar diffrence between a Zero & a DX connected like a zero I Would crack my case 1st to see if I Could save the money.. Hell that would just about pay for a powerpad for it (or whatever they are calling it)

good point indeed, specially that i didn't notice the big diff in price, cause i only looked for DX before buying it

indeed... Myself I knew that there was a high probability of having an epoxy covered chip & Since I had no tri-wing I just ordered the DX with the knowledge that it would do what I needed it to.. I Would have been happy to save some cash on it, than again I also know my install is clean enough if sompthing happens that it will go back to N* & they wont know it has been chipped in the process..
