Just installed Wasabi DX, not reading disks (even recovery)

I just installed a Wasabi DX on a Wii with epoxy. It now plays fine with regular games, but even when i push eject 3 times, a disc symbol appears but it spins and then says it is unreadable.
So.. it plays regular games and the recovery menu seems to be starting to work but it won't read any discs including the update to 1.2.
Also, my DVD burner won't go slower than 3x and I am using Memorex DVD-Rs with ImgBurn. Any advice? I am going to get some better Sony DVD-Rs I think but I don't get why the recovery won't even start

Thanks for any help

Also my Wii has 3.4u if it helps

EDIT: Took the chip off, booted Wii Sports, played a game, put the chip back on and everything is working. Wasabi DX seems great

I'm on 1.2 now, and the Memorex DVD-Rs are working for now but I only have a few left, will go for the Verbatim -rs soon, cheers. Wasabi DX seems great so far

they may work well now but will not in the future,,,,,

also of the 100 or so lasers we have replaced.....most were using sony, tdk, memorex, maxcell, fuji, phillips, imation

HAVE NEVER replaced a drive/laser on a wii that were using Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens

what does that tell you?

Honestly very little... Very few people are only going to ever use 1 type of media & never use anything else so of course those that are only using 1 type are going to fail less since there are less of them..
