to my knoledge I am the only one with a wasabi DX & I unfortunitly cant answer your question for sure since I have no GC games to try.. But I do know that the audio streaming is still an issue with the Wasabi DX, The only modchip i know of that was supposed to fix it is the wasabi zero..

Hmm, I didn't know Wasabi Zero was solderless (it seems there is a solder and solderless versions or something like that). I've searched info about it and it seems really good. So I'll probably get Wasabi Zero. I still haven't bought a Wii, so I hope it works with the drive of the Wii I get >.< Or else I guess I'll have to get WasabiDX... Let's see how it goes.
I am guessing that most new wii's have the Epoxy covered chips so unless you want to scrape it off you will need a 3rd gen Modchip (ie FlatMod, DriveKey or my obvious preference Wasabi DX)

I inserted my serial number on that website that identifies drives and I got this:
Your drive most likely has the following chipset:
* There is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D2E.
* And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2E and covered in black glue.
I guess I'll have to open up the Wii to check if it the chip is covered in epoxy. Damn, I really hope it's not... I really want to get Wasabi Zero. But hey, 75% chance that it is not covered in epoxy is not bad at all xD Let's see what I get...

NO EPOXY......wasabi zero ..no prob with GC audio streaming
lucky bastard... haha mine had so much epoxy it covered the chip & like 2 inches all around it.. I Would have deffinitly perferred the zero just because it was well established already.. But i guess since I have no GC games or intentions on getting them then it doesnt matter eh..
Yep, I was pretty lucky. I guess not that many people buy a Wii where I live. When I went to buy one, I made sure I was taking the oldest one by checking the copy number of the console There were only two Wii's but their copy numbers were kinda far apart so maybe if I had bought the other one I wouldn't had been so lucky. Heheh.
