whats the reason why the drive speed is limited to 3x instead of the normal 5x when using drive keys

The exploit used to run back up games came from a bit of code Nintendo did not delete, after deciding not to ship the Wii with DVD playing capability. ALL DVD player run at 3x speed hence that's the best you'll get

I just figured that it was due to an extra device on the cable causing a more complex path.. But I Guess Rossy's explaination sounds a whole lot less like bull s*%$
