WasabiDX vs. DriveKey

Hello all:

This is my first post, been reading for 3 nights now, about modding, interesting hobbie! I just got back from the store with my new wii, checked the serial # looks like I have a 50% chance of having a epoxy covered chip. So I'm thinking DriveKey, then I find this new section for WasabiDX, I got excited because of some reading I've seen on the 3X speed of the DriveKey. After some searching, I read on one retailers site that WasabiDX will also be 3X.

So sorry for the long windedness above, my question is, will the WasabiaDX do anything that the DriveKey won't. I know its new, I just don't want to be hasty in ordering the DriveKey if the WasabiDX is going to be better.

Should I order a DriveKey and get into this hobbie now, or wait for the WasabiDX to arrive at the site sponcers stores before ordering. Also I read of some ribbon problems with the first DriveKeys, I know no one knows yet, but I don't want to be one of the first testing the wasabidx and have to go through that type of problem if its not going to be a better chip.

Thanks in advance for all your help. Also my appologiwes if this is the wrong section.

p.s. loving this site, good community, I've modded at sites for a different testing community, and this site seems very well modded, with a great community.

Also I read something about the WasabiDX having a brick blocker, should that influence my choice? I havent read anything about the DriveKey having this.

the 'ribbon issue' of drivekey is skeptical, as there's no revision mark on the moduel for users to trace the 'possible' read error. certainly, u don't want to risk with it.
my other friends with wasabi (not the DX) are happy with the mod. tho, u need to do soldering. think about it. removal epoxy and soldering are not that difficult. reliable it's.

So I know very little as i haven't used either as my wii is just a couple days older then yours.. I Found one place that said that they had the Wasabi DX in stock & ready to ship for a decent price to the US So I placed my order a little bit ago.. What made up my mind was the GameCube streaming audio thingy.. Basically I Want to be able to play anything & everything seamlessly.. Hence a mod chip & not a much cheaper & easier soft hack.. Price I paid was within 3 dollars of the cheapest i found the drivekey shipped to me so the price difference was negligible, Also reading reviews on past products Wasabi seems to have the track record as being the better units..

Thats the one thing I've kinda gathered also is that wasabi has been around for quite awhile. Is the Drivekey made by a new company to the industry? I ask because of future support, the wassabi is kinda proven right, I don't know that about the DriveKey.

Yea for me it wasn't a question on reliability.. it was on features.. Both had a good track record of making a solid product.. But in all the xxx vs yyy threads I have read on previous generations normally put wasabi on top unless it was about price.. & Since price difference wasn't much I went for the features..
