Question Wasabi V3 and Wii-Clip V5: green light but no DVD spin up

    Hi everybody,

and first of all a big yell of HELP.

I' ve got a 2 week old PAL Wii with D2C and got today a Wasabi V3 and a Wii-Clip V5 (not V5b). I soldered everything together, looks very clean, but made one small mistake(*), look below.

I soldered F from Clip to F on Wii and clipped on the thing on the D2C. Started Wii, Wasabi go for .5secs red, than comes to solid green.

Problem is, that the DVD drive doesn't spin up. No originals, no backup discs. Can not insert or eject any DVD. But Wasabi stays green. Wii tells me there is a problem with the disk, or even gives me a black screen with a "disk error, look at he manual". If I remove Wasabi, everything works as normal.

What can I try to make it work??

    (*) My "small" mistake:
For PAL you have to shortcut bridge 2. Despite I know the basics of soldering for a very long time, I managed to damage the outer pad from bridge 2, which is now completly gone. On the circuit you can see that the outer pad of bridge 1 is directly connected to the outer pad of bridge 2. So I soldered the inner pad from bridge 2 crossover to the outer pad of bridge 1.

Sounds a little confusing, but I can provide photos if you need to have a look on it.

Every solder point is checked with a multimeter. I really dont know what to do now. Please help, anybody?

    Bye, mikey667.

    Hi,

    still Help wanted

this is my "small" mistake I wrote about in the first mail.

The bridge 2 has with a very tiny wire contact to the outer pad from bridge 1. On the circuit board the two points look connected, so I think it is OK.

May this my problem, or is there anything else wrong?

    Bye mikey667

    Hi,

    me again. Thanks to Barlowk.

In another post he found out that his Wii-Clip is fake. So I checked mine through their fake or original Website. And clearly my clip is a fake one!! F.e. it spells "WASABL" instead of "WASABI".

I will be really pissed off, if this is the problem that the wasabi will not work.
The company who sells me this saves a few pennys and I am debugging hours and the whole last night??

I will start a new thread, maybe there are any expierencies about fake clips...

Still hoping somebody can make a statement to my "bridge trouble", see photo...

    Bye, mikey667.
