    Wasabi V3, Wii Clip V5 & D2E chip

    Hi all,

First thing is first, I am a newbie to this and have had my Wii for 3 days. I bought a presoldered Wasabi V3 on a Wii Clip V5 for my D2E. However, it doesnt work. I get a green light on the Wasabi and can play original games but when I try to play backups nothing happens???

I followed the installation instructions very very carefully but am confused by the additional wire which comes with the Wii Clip. I soldered it to the f points on both the clip and the board but still nothing.

I have been reading through various forums and web sites and am even more confused now(cutting through traces etc)

Can some one help, I have a stack of backups which I am itching to play.

    Thanks in advance

Hi meltedhouse, welcome to the WiiHacks community.

When you say "nothing happens" exactly what do you mean, since if you are the Wii Channel screen then either the Disc Channel shows a game or just pic of disc or does something else come up like a black screen?

When on the Wii Channel screen it just shows a greyed out disk, if I click on it it trys to spin the drive and then tells me to insert an original Wii disc.

    BTW, thanks for the welcome

Did you make sure that the Wii-Clip is correctly aligned, as even a slight misalignment will mean the connection will not be made correctly. At the same time don't keep taking the wii-clip off and on again as that will loose the tightness (not sure if that is right word to use) of the clip.

Yeah, I made sure i did it carefully. Do you know if I need to solder the xtra wire anywhere. I read somewhere that I should connect F to F.

    Appreciate your help with this

Hi, can you post a picture of the chip/clip , it will help a lot

Also is it a v5 clip or a v5b , this makes a diffrence. If it is v5b is the wire attached from F to Q ? If its not then use the extra wire to do that. If it is a V5 then you will need to solder from point F on the clip to F point on the board. See Wasabi Wii Modchip - Compatible with DMS, D2A, D2B, D2C, D2C2, D2E - Upgradable from DVD - Simply the best for diagram of F point.

Its the V5 and not the V5b as there is no "q" point on the chip.

I will try and re-solder the f point again on the board, what are my options if this still does not work. Faulty chip and send it back? I bought it from a reputable dealer in the UK.

Again, thanks for all your help, this is a great forum. Apologies for the quality of the photo, its from my Blackberry.

i cant tell from your pic because the area i need to see is blurred, but it looks like jp2 is not bridged, you want to bridge jp2 if its in a UK PAL system, if its in a USA NTSC unit then bridge jp1 instead.

Thanks Spyman, just for clarity JP2 is above the C point on the chip and do i just need a blob of solder on it? Will this mean that I will be unable to play NTSC backups?
