Wasabi Zero (Solderless) cant upgrade FW to 1.4

I have a wasabi zero (solderless). I am unable to upgrade to version 1.4 (or 3.0 for that matter). I have burned the DVD from the iso using imgburn at 4x. I am pretty sure my burning technique is ok since I can play most games. It finds the disk, and I click on the "Nintendo Game Cube" icon, and I get to the screen with "Wii Menu" and "Start". When I select start the wii just resets back to the main menu.

I had thought that maybe my FW is too old. So I burned the v1.3 disk and that upgraded just fine. I again tried the v1.4 disk and get the same response. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have hacks installed? custom mIOS possibly? It could also be that your mIOS is old, which is what it sounds like to me but that's a hunch based on the fact that the older upgrade worked fine. When you say most games, do you mean GC games as well as wii games?

I am not sure which mIOS I have, but I am pretty sure it isn't custom. I have ver 3.4U, if that means anything. I only have wii games, so I dont know about the Game Cube games working or not.

I think I read that ver 4.2 is out. Should I remove my wasabi and update the wii? Do you think that would help.

    Thanks for your reply.

Don't update to 4.2! You'll lose region free capabilities of your chip for good if you do. All 4.2 is, is stuff that destroys homebrew and cripples functionality of chips. read the tutorial about safely updating to 4.1U and do that instead then try your wasabi update discs. I'd advise doing some research and learning to use Dop-Mii also. You could check all IOS's mIOS, channels and you can also do the system menu update using it, if done properly. The link in my sig may be of interest to you also, even though it actually refers to downgrading from 4.2 to 4.1. It still has info on Dop-Mii you will find useful as well as links to the 4.1 system menu if you happen to want to do the update with the wii offline. Be careful and do some research around the site about Dop-Mii before jumping the gun. Dop-Mii can brick you if you aren't careful. Once you know how to use it properly though the tool is a godsend.
