Does Wasabi 3 + Wii Clip V5 Work With D2E

    Hello,

I recently baught a Wasabi 3 presoldered to a Wii-Clip V5, On the back of my wasabi it says D2E compatable.

I have installed the same exact chip in a D2C before with no issues whats so ever, I did the exact same install in a D2E and whenever i turn on the WII the drive doesn't spin at all and I cant insert a CD in the drive. I dissconnect the F wire and the drive spins up fine and will read Original games.

The Wasabi light goes from red to green like its supposed to during the bootup, but if i wait a few minutes at the main screen i will get a black screen with a message, "there is a problem with the cd in the drive please Eject" even with NO DISC in the drive!!!

I know the chip works, I removed it from that wii and installed it in another D2C Wii and bang it boots up and works fine on the first time every time, I take the chip and put it back in the D2E, and nothing (Useing the same install procedure and wii clip.

I tried installing the chip in my D2C will and running the update DVD i downloaded off of Wasabi's website, install it back in the D2E, and still same issue with no change.

I put the Chip back in my D2C once again, and the chip works with no problems at all

My question is this.... Is the Wii-Clip compatible with the D2E drives???

Thank You very much ahead of time for those who take the time to read this!!

    is it the v5 or v5b ?
if its the v5b make sure its like this

if its the V5 then you have to solder the F point on the chip to F point on the board.

    Its the V5a

I'm almost sure its the V5A, and I have tried linking the F point to the board but when i do that the drive doesn't want to take a cd, As soon as i dissconnect the F wire then bang the drive accepts cd's but only original ones.

I know its not my media because i use the same media in another wii with the exact same mod chip (d2c wii) and it works perfect, I also know for sure that I'm connecting the correct F point as well.

when you connect the F wire, did you unbridge the clk point on the chip?

No I didn't I left it exactly as it was. Like i said I did the exact same install as on my D2C onto the D2E

Works on D2C but not on D2E on both I left the CLK point intact and F wire connected..

was I supposed to unbridge the CLK???

Yes you should unbridge the clk point when soldering the F wire to the specific point it goes on.
Thanks everyone for the great support.

Is this for the D2E only or should I pop open my D2C (which is working) and remove the clk point?

the diagram that spyman posted...give it a try cause some D2C drives are very moody with modchips

    I also bought a wasabi v3 and a wii-clip v5B. Not presoldered.

First try: the drive didnít spin/work and the led on the wasabi chip burned red for 1 or 2 second and then went off. No leds burning. (F to F point soldered)
Second try: I soldered the wii-clip + the wasabi again to make sure it made good contact with the clip. Yes! This time the drive went on and it spinned. Green led stayed on. BUT, it couldnít read any dvdís. Neither backup or original. (F to F point soldered)

Third try: I saw this thread and comment of Dark Mod; unbridge the clk. I unbridged the clk on the clip and wasabi chip. Now the drive is accepting original dvdís but no backups. When you insert the backup dvd, it spins for a second and then stops. (F to F point soldered + unbridged CLK on wii clip)

    Fourth try: help?

    My setup: D2E chip Ė Wasabi v3 Ė Wii-Clip V5B - Wii 3.1E
I donít think itís the discs because it works fine on my second wii with Argon modchip. I always use Verbatim ĖR and burn them x4 in imgburn.

Any help would be most welcome

Ok...fourth help remove the clip, and solder the chip to the drive using the wire method...last resort to make the wasabi work...also route the clk wire over the oscillator (Big IC) you can use the alternative diagram if you don't want to solder the wire directly to the drive IC legs
Thanks everyone for the great support.
