    D2B Wii + Wasabi v3 & clip ??

I have been putting it off for a long time now, and decided to finally crack open my wii to see what kind of chip I had in it. Well, it is a D2B (not sure about the pins being cut). Anyways, I just ordered the Wasabi V3 with a clip from here, and just wanted to double check that it will work with my wii.

I have never soldered anything, nor do I really want to, so I wanted to go with something simple and upgradeable, so was this a good choice for me?

    thanks

yes that is a very good chip choice for you. Will work solidly and has no issues thus no upgrade or update has been needed. Enjoy.

you will need to cut 4 traces for it to work in a d2b. Make sure you inform then you want it to work on a d2b so they can make the adjustments for you in advance.

I selected that I wanted it pre-soldered and that it was for d2b, so hopefully they will get that set up. Thanks for the replies

on the wii-clip site, it says that I also need to connect the "F" points in addition to the cutting of the 4 lines. Any advice on how to do this? I've never soldered before and I am not sure if the lines were cut by the company I got it from.

its not too difficult to do but if you know someone that does have a bit of experience that would be ideal.

from the wii-clip site, it says I need to do a few things: 1)If your WII is D2B chipset, need short the "D2B" jumper of V5 CLIP, 2)If your WII is USA version, need short the jumper "1" of WASABI chip, 3) cut the 4 lines, and 4) connect F points

My question is, do I just physically cut the 4 lines with say a razor blade?

How do I short the d2b jumper and jumper 1? And does shorting the jumper 1 still allow me to use any region game?

yes you can cut it with scissors as well....shorting D2B jumper means connecting the 2 golden pads. you can see the jumper one shorted on the pic below

if you ordered the d2b specific version though it should all be done for you except F point which they specify you need to solder.

thanks for all the help ya'll. I believe that I have it all figured out now, but I ran into another problem. My gf was being nice and cleaned up my living room, and the little wire that came with the clip is now missing. I assume that you need the wire to be insulated, but does it matter besides that? Could I just split a cheapo speaker wire (the really thin ones that come with home theatre systems) and use that to connect the f points? Thanks again.
