Got the new wasabi chip installed...

I just got the latest wasabi chip installed...and when I pop in a burned DVD, the disc came up with a software update instead of the game.

Should I install the software update? There was a disclaimer that said that if I have any "modifications" the update might make my wii not function properly. Is this typical?

If the game is the same region as your Wii, then it's okay for you to update.
Example: If the game is NTSC-U and your Wii is NTSC-U, then you're safe. NEVER update your wii from foreign region games.

Also if you are interested in Homebrew then I would suggest installing that first using the DVD iso method before updating your wii.

How do I know which region is my wii? I bought mine at Bestbuy in May in the USA.

Your Wii is NTSC-U (NTSC-U = USA, NTSC-J = Japan, PAL = Europe/Australia)
