    Us D2Pro9 Modchip

My mod chip came with a flat ribbon cable. I bought one of the already installed chips in a d2c drive from mod central. I read a little bit about what this cable is for but dont find anything solid. Is that for upgrading my chip? Please let me know if anyone has any info. Here is the link for what i purchased. Mod Central Ltd.*::*Nintendo Wii*::*Modchips*::*D2C Drive Modded w/ D2Pro9 Modchip

I have contacted them to see as well, but figured i would get faster answers from you guys. Thanks in advance.

Yes its for updating you chip. You just need a programmer to update it.

if your modchip is a d2pro9v2 you cannot update it with a programmer "if you do ? your chip is dead" use the 1.4 disc that's the only solution at the moment.

if your wii is working properly with original and backups then it means that you have a d2pro9 v1 that has a firmware of 1.0 which mean that its not upgradable by dvd, so you will need to use the d2prog aka jtag to upgrade the firmware to 1.1b then you can use the 1.4 config disk to update.

    JVE,

I ordered the same modchip from modchipcentral as well and I am still waiting for an answer to what version is in mine. I booted off the utility disc v1.4 and got the same "d2pro chip not found" error message as you. I find this a little disconcerning that modchipcentral has not been giving me the right answers. First, they tell me it has an unreleased to public firmware for the d2c2. I ordered a D2C and referenced my order number to which they brushed off apparently. Then they tell me its the v2. I boot of the disc and get the error. Now, I am waiting to hear what my next steps are. If they are going to make me buy yet another device to just program my modchip this is bullshit. Talk about nickle and diming customers....

    electro,
I have yet to get an answer out of them at all so it is good that you actually got something. Now there is good news to this story. I have yet to come across a game that does not play and i play online as well. Even super smash bros, i put the layer break code i found on this forum and it plays fine.

On the bad news, i find on occassion that my discs will not eject. I dont know what that is all about but sometimes i just wait a few minutes and it will eject but it is pretty scary. I did order the program piece so hopefully in the future if i ever need it, i will have it.

How did you manage to get them to respond to you, i asked them 3 or 4 different questions and have not gotten a single response!! i am happy with the product but not happy with customer service.
