Question Need some reassurance regarding presoldered D2Pro9v2

I'm planning on purchasing a presoldered D2Pro9 v2 and wanted to know

    1) whether the "Shorting of the CLK Jumper" is something that is required or optional?

    2) To make the wii region free, am I going to need to solder extra points?

    3) Will I be able to update using CD/DVD or will there be a need to also use Programmer? Oh also can you either CD-R or DVD-/+R to update?

    Thanks in advance.

I had the same question and I got it answered by an official dealer, plus I did a little research and found that what he told me was correct.

I sent the dealer an email asking him the following:
    1. If I get it soldered on to a wii clip from you guys. All I have to do is put it in my wii, correct. I have to do absolutely 0 soldering, right?
    2. Will the chip be at the latest firmware? I believe its version 1.4.
    3. Will this chip be updateable via dvd like the website says? Can you confirm that if they release a v1.5 that can be updated via a dvd I will be able to update to it with a dvd with the firmware installed on my chip prior to shipment?
This was the response from ModChipCentral,LTD. via email
Yes, you will just have to clip it in however you may have to solder 1 wire if it does nto work. Install instructions are located here:

    WII-CLIP for WIIKEY,D2CKEY,D2CPRO,ARGON,D2PRO ......

They ship with the latest firmware for D2C2 which has not been released to the public yet and is updateable via DVD as well.
I sent a reply to him because I was like you and wanted to know if I had to short out the clk jumper or solder the wire, this is what I asked

I have read and figured out that you have to short the "clk" jumper and test to see if it works. Do you guys do this, or would i have to solder the "clk" jumper. And out of all the models that you have sold have any of them required the consumer to solder the "J" point to the drive? If so what is the percentage, roughly? I appreciate your honesty. Thanks.
    This is what he said
We do not short the CLK jumper as the majority of the times it works without doing it however if it does not, you have to solder it in. Every Wii is different so some will work with it shorted, and some will work without it shorted.

We have not had to manually solder the J point out of the many we have installed.
After doing a little more research I found that very little people have had to short the clk jumper and that in order to short it all you have to do is connect the left and right portion of the jumper (its separated if you look closely) with a big blob of solder or just a small wire.
    Hope this helped.

Thanks very much for that info.

Did you have to do anything additional to make the wii region free?

Also, did you have to do anything to the 3v3 (Power) and GND (Ground) connection points? I see pictures on the website highlighting these points but not sure why.

I have not ordered mine yet as I can not seem to find a wii in stores ANYWHERE =\

However, based on the research that I have done, there is no need to solder anything else for region free.

As for the 3v3 and the gnd points, those points are the main reason for the entire clk jumper points. In other words those points are also taken care of.

Thanks for the reassurance. I will probably be buying from Foundmy.com as it will cost me $77 for the presoldered D2Pro9 v2. I might even get the Gecko USB for addiotional $40. I had emailed them regarding the CLK point and they informed me that they will take care of connecting the jumper (shorting) it.

On foundmy.com it doesn't say that the chip is actually soldered onto the clip, I think you have to do that yourself. Plus, looking at the review I don't think it would be that good considering many people have complained about not receiving tracking numbers, etc. I want to go with canadamods.ca because from what I have read their quality is amazing, but their price is too steep for me. If they give me the same price as modchipcentral.com then I would happily get it done from them, but at the price I am probobly going to do it from modchipcentral.com as they only charge $93 (shipping included) for a triwing and the clip with the chip pre soldered onto it, whereas canadamods.com charges $95 for the same thing, minus the triwing and without the shipping cost put into consideration.

I don't know as of yet though, I am still waiting to purchase a wii. It's rather difficult as all the stores in my area are sold out... Target is supposed to get a shipment this weekend. Lets see if I get lucky.

I couldn't find any information on ModchipCentral regarding them selling the D2Pro9 v2 presoldered. Can you provide a link please.

[EDIT] Nevermind, I found it under the Wii-Clip product as one of the options. Comes to $87.85 (incl. shipping no tri-wing). It looks like that would be the way to go.
