Arrow Wasabi ==> RED light of death, dead drive, no sign of life..

The Wasabi mod chips are weird.. I say this cause sometimes they
work w/o issues as soon as u r done installing & there will be times where u'll
have to install point K into the middle leg off the reset button to make it work..
May sound weird but it works.. I only had one install work as soon as
I was done installing it.. The other 2 installs I had to connect K into the middle
leg off the reset button.. As you power on the Wii ==> Picture comes up,
u press A ==> The channels pop up but u dont hear a thing from the drive.
That's the regular installation.. so u might think the chip is dead.. Cause it

causes the drive not to move a muscle all u see is the red light on the chip.
So this is where u would connect K into the middle leg off the reset button
on the Wii's motherboard.. ==> So after pressing A ..Channels pop up & u
still dont hear a thing.. "This is where u press RESET" ==> It wakes up the
Wasabi Mod chip & it activates the DVD drive ==> Now you are set to play!

** Some of you may think it's the position I placed the Wasabi,
the wire being to long or whatever..it's not, I have done it both ways..
I've had the same error even when installed in the correct spot..
(as shown on the official diagram) **

Now spiktsu buddy......I know this is an old topic but you want to know why the first wasabi had that major issue? First, the components that is around the chip's board sometimes fail or raise in value. I used to constantly repair this damn mistake from day one. And most of the time you need to install the resistor fix to clk point.
Thanks everyone for the great support.
Hope to hear from you soon, cause i'm getting ready to retire from the modding scene.

Yep if you have a spare 100ohm resistor I believe it will do the trick. I haven't encountered any with issues just yet but I've read about a lot of the issues.

take a pic of your actual install so we can see if there is something wrong. I've had quite the opposite experience with Wasabi 2s in that they are the chips I use when all others give me troubles.

i dont think its going to be his install, all the people that have got that problem can't have all had a bad install, plus he has done a lot of installations obviously for it to be an install issue. It is fixed by some little tweaks though.

I will agree with spyman, nothing is wrong with spiktsu's install, the first wasabi made some numerous errors with the engineering of the wasabi 1 chip, the first time I bought one of these chips, I seen it on youtube about the number of issues it had among certain types of wiis, and even I had some problems with the chip, so I had to rebuild the chip from scratch to get it to perform without any complications. And up to this day that particular wii with the same rebuilt chip is still working and boots every single piece of media flawless.
