Issues with Wasabi Zero / Black screen and freezings

Hi guys!

I'm having some issues playing a couple of games on my Nintendo Wii. But first of all let me put your all up to date:


Nintendo Wii
Firmware Ver. 3.2E
Wasabi Zero (solderless) installed
No other soft-mod installed

The thing is, so far I've been able to play all the Wii games I wanted, yet I'm having an annoying black screen and then freezing with some games.

The games in question are 'PES 2009' and 'New Super Mario Bros'.

I don't know what I need to do. I've recorded the games very slowly. The Wii firmware is only the 3.2E. I don't know...


What do I need to do to make this problem go away and peacefully play NSMB? :)

Hey. I have been playing New Super Mario Bros Wii, NTSC-U version on my system (3.2U) and the only difference between your system and mine, other than region, is that I installed the system hacks package that comes with AnyRegion Changer. Otherwise I reset my Wii back to vanilla last night. I'm not saying I'm 100% sure it will work, but usually the differences between regions are slight other than the video signal they're supposed to encode to, so you might want to try that.

It requires homebrew channel and an SD card to do. I'm sure there might be a list of which IOSes are installed with AnyRegion Changer's system hacks package, but to be honest the program is really simple to use and automates the process, so I don't see why there's any reason to use anything else.

So, if I want to be able to play all Wii games I must install a homebrew channel?

I've been searching for the last hour here on the forum, but there is so many information scattered I wasn't able to determine the right tutorial to follow. Can you please tell me what I need to do in order to make everything work?

It would be great if you could give a URL to a website or something with the step-by-step guide. I believe you must know this...

Modular, there used to be an ISO you could burn that would install the homebrew channel if you had a modchip. That is how I installed mine a while ago.

Here it is for the EU verison. It's a little old but after you have it installed, if you're connected to a network with your wii, it should prompt you to update it. There's a readme inside the file that explains what to do. You just pop in the disc, run it from the drive channel, and go, as far as I remember.

There's also the Twilight hack. Follow this guide if you want to do it that way. This is a bit more complicated, but if you have a copy of Twilight Princess (should work whether it's original or not) you can also try it. I did this on a friend's Wii and it worked fine.

I've heard good things about the Bannerbomb but I haven't tried it, so I can't speak for it.

Another thing, once you have it installed to an SD card, to install programs you're going to need to copy whatever you find online in its own folder to the apps folder on the SD card. Whatever the executable is inside that folder has to be renamed to boot (keep the extension, if the file was called mario.dol you'd rename it to boot.dol and if it was mario.elf you'd rename it to boot.elf). For some reason people assume everyone knows this in their readmes, and it caused me a lot of confusion when I first started.

After you do that, they will just show up in the homebrew channel which works like a regular Nintendo channel.
