G'day, I recently installed a Drivekey in my D2E chipset and found my original games did not work but my back up copies did.

So I returned my Drivekey and installed the Wasabi DX. again none of my original games worked.

So I went to the official Wasabi site and downloaded the latest Firmwares: Wasabi DX Upgrade Disc v2.0 *BETA* and installed it as directed in the txt file inside the rar file and it's been perfect ever since...

    Hope this helps

Opps, I misread your post... you want to turn the wii off then turn back on (this must be done) then press reset 3 times.

This will place a gamecube display in the disc menu. Go into the menu and use the reset button to select the avalible options and turn the update blocker option ON...

I've also been to scared to install an update because of the unknown outcome (bricking etc).

    Again, I hope this helps

When you went to the disk menu you should have seen a Gamecube sign after you turned it off, and then on, reseted it 3 times. Use your controller to access the menu THEN use the reset button to select menu options... Also check out the official wasabi site

Would the Wii be bricked if it's updated though? I have the Wasabi Zero and it showed that message when I tried to play FFCC Echoes of Time on it.

if u have a mod chip and update using a game from the same region as your console it willn't brick it
Wii with WiiKey2 downgraded to 3.2u. was black epoxy. (x2)

Xbox 1 with mod chip and 160 gb hard drive up grade and ultra 133 harddrive cable mod.

Thanks but doesn't a modchip remove regional limits as well? And does this also mean that unlike the Wasabi DX this one doesn't need a disk for upgrades? Oh and does the method for the chip's menu work for Wasabi Zero as well? Or is there another way to do it?

Yuki dont worry, if you'll not gonna softmod (ever) then go ahead and upgrade it will not brick your wii.
Your wii will brick if you upgrade using another region back up disk. Example. you have a NTSC wii 3.4u and you update using a pal back up game...and actually update...then you'll most likely..Brick your wii.
Check here... http://www.wiihacks.com/wasabi-1-2-n...-screen-2.html message from Modderman to me.. hope this helps..
    much aloha, ~kawai

If i've helped, pls press the thumbs up button...;D

What did you mean by soft modding? I've modded it using a mod chip so I wouldn't need another method of doing it, if you mean homebrew channel then I may or may not get it, cause it seems I'm missing too many things for it and it's too much of a hassle. Never mind I've upgraded it with no problems after, it still reads burned DVDs and still works so I'm happy, and now I'll know that it works for all that would need it if it's in my own region.
