I have softmod wii and was having a similar prob with this game but I changed hacks and downgraded to 3.2 and it works now. I am not sure what was the problem but doing this fixed it for me, I realize it may not help you unless you want to put some homebrew on your Wii. Have Wasabi Zero Chip, 4.0 firmware, DVD-R 1x burn. I get the title screen, and stright to black screen when I start.
Can anyone help me play this?

i also have the wasabi zero and my house of the dead works fine. also on -r media. maybe the kid above me has the right idea about 3.2 because thats what i have. but this is just a what if as im not 100% sure thats your issue
I helped hyabusha in private message. The issue was that it was a PAL disc in an NTSC wii. If anyone has similar problems just use RegionFrii on the ISO, set it to USA, and then burn, it should boot fine without a black screen. This also worked on Disaster: Day of Crisis for me because there's no US English version out yet.

house of the dead overkill wont play story mode but will play mini games, wii 4.1u cios38rev14 running on gammar7 tryed gecko and softchip99 same results tryed seaching form but no awnsers can anybody help.
What was the solution on this? Running Gamma R8, rev14, NTSC copy , burned at 2x on verbatim dvd-r, tried loading it via usb and it wouldn't even recognize it, simply trying to get it to work, would prefer to boot it via dvd any solutions? I get the green screen then saying that it needs to be ejected and to look at the wii manual etc.
xxFirebird21xx, the fix was that the disc he was using was an out of region disc, and sometimes they need to be patched even if the modchip or backup loader supports region free loading.
I hate to sound like I'm parroting the same stuff again (as I do often in the wasabi forum!) but both yours and DOSHA's problems seem to be problems that generally happen when IOS files are incompatible. You might want to try running DOP-IOS and updating your system files one by one. Search the forums or find it on wiibrew, there's helpful guides on how to use it.
I suppose your problem could be a bad burn, but if you've been using the same brand of media and burning at the same settings and only this game doesn't work, I'd say it's highly unlikely. I would try one more burn (if you haven't already) and if it doesn't work, then look into DOP-IOS.
