Us Wasabi v3 problems

I have a wasabi v3 on my d2e with the v5b clip that was pre-soldered from canadamods (point F to point Q). I am running 3.4u also. Initially the wasabi went red to green so I put it back together and was able to run original games successfully (wii sports and mario kart) but would not recognize the backup discs created with verbatim -r (taiwan) and sony -r. After trying these, the wii would not respond to any games, so I took it back apart and now the red light on the wasabi is staying on all the time. I removed the wasabi and clip, inspected the pins and put it back but keep getting the same thing. The wii plays fine when removing the chip as well, so I don't think it is the wii. Is there anything i'm missing? I've tried to cover all bases before posting. Any help would be appreciated.

I myself have a d2b with cut legs wasabi v3 and had a clip installed. I ended up soldering to the board though and now all is fine. The clips are very fragile and tend to wear out very easily if they are taken off the chip and repositioned just a few times. I believe I wore mine down. You may have too but there are other possibilities. If the drive is responding in different ways when the clip is on it and is always responsive with retail games with the clip off of it then it is almost positively is a connection issue (clip) and probably not the chip itself. If you can have it soldered by someone experienced, solder is always the better option than the clips anyway for more dependable connectability to the points.
Edit:
Another possibility is that they didn't solder jumper 1 if you have an ntsc (usa) wii, or jumper 2 if you have a PAL (eur) wii.
You should have a look at hxxp://www.wii-clip.com . Honestly I'm not positive about the d2e drives but there may be other complications needed to be "adjusted" before the chip will function properly. For example, if I'm not mistaken points f and q being shorted was a workaround that was to be used for older drives so that the install could remain completely wireless, but it doesn't necessarily apply to the d2e. Wait for confirmation on this though from someone who knows for sure here. I'm trying to help with what I know but I don't know everything.
I have seen similar posts to yours though where people got presoldered clips only to find that they weren't completely customized properly for the drives that they would be later installed in.

I have the exact same wasabi v3 and d2e with the same issue. Initially I would get red light but I got it to work with only partial placement on wii chip, not forcing into place. It gave me a green light but only plays originals not backups. I just took it apart tonight but see nothing obvious.
I do not want to solder nor do I know how. Is there information on soldering this one? I will be seeking help from the distributor.

Good luck

I have the wasabi v3 with v5 clip and d2e where mine goes green and stays green, but does not play backups...I have soldered the f point directly to the board as well. I believe my issue/problem would be the fact that the Wii is on v3.4e

Can anyone provide some help here please.

Check that the #1 or #2 depending on your region is soldered.

Firmware shouldnt stop it, make sure the #2 joint is soldered.

Ok, just adding back what I have attempted and that it is working now :-)

I resoldered all the points (incl the #2 again - for PAL). Bent the Wii clip pins out a bit more.

The only issue is the wasabi wants to be reset occassionally as the DVD drive stops working so I unclip and reclip the Wii Clip and then it goes again. Any alternative suggestions for this?

create a switch on the K point on the wasabi, it may do the trick. Otherwise other suggestion is get a new clip to replace the one you have or solder it directly via wire.
