How secure is the Wasabi Zero once its been installed?

I installed it successfully and everything is working great, but I'm worried about the chip coming loose once I close the Wii. I saw the guy on the installation guide video put electrical tape over the actual chip. Would it be a good idea to tape over the clip for some extra support, or does the console being closed up provide enough support to keep the clip in place?

The electrical tape you saw was probably to stop the chip shorting to the Wii case or DVD drive. I don't think there's a great deal of risk provided you've soldered ok with minimal excess wire.

If you are concerned then pop it open and tape it up, better to be safe than blow something.

Here is a good example of a nice install and very secure with double sided tape.

how are you connecting the zero, via soldering or via the clip? if your using the clip it can easily pop of at the slightest bump if its not attached near perfectly. if you are using the clip, this is how i installed mine, 1st i put a layer of electrical tape on the backside of the zero and left a 2mm overhang around the edges. next i put it on the chipset and applied even pressure, you kinda have to push hard but not to hard, make sure you have an equal distance from the circuit board to the edge of the clip(should be about 1 millimeter gap when pressed on there good) then i put one strip of electric tape across the zero to hold it against the board(the tape is stuck directly to the board). the last thing i did was to put a layer of tape covering the area on the metal that the zero will be adjacent to when closed up, make sure not to cover the small circular hole that is there for the dvd drive ventilation. then your good to go and should have no problems, and i have transported my wii to many friends houses, so it has been handle and moved quite a bit, but i still try to be gentle with it. prior to doing this my zero would pop off whenever i tried to attach the drive back up. if yours is soldered, that picture is a good detail of how it should be. you might just want to consider my use of electrical tape to prevent unwanted contact with anything and to hold it in place.

Wondering as couldnt see to well in video was that regular black electric tape used?

Using black electric tape works well, make it about 2" x 3". It will definitely help alot. Remember though because you are using a chip, if there's alot of wii housing abuse from transporting it all over the place, there is a chance of it loosening. I have yet to have any problems thus far...i'm just enjoying...playing games =).

use electrical tape to cover it from shorting. you will also want to use an official wii-clip the ones that come stock with wasabi zero unfortunately do not work too well, and or can damage the chipset. The authentic wii-clips just work so much nicer. If you're wiring it in though you'll be fine then

the stock wasabi zero clip works great. you just have to put it on correctly. although i will say if not properly seated and nice electric tape placement it will have the potential to come loose. you do have the possibility of damaging ur chipset but u would have to seriously screw up a very simple task in order to manage that. i take my wii back n forth to houses and never had a problem yet with my wasabi dx w/clip.
