I got my wasabi zero today from canadamods , i planned to hard wire this chip from the start but because they sent the clip with the modchip i decided to try it first. Well i was very careful in placing the clip over the chip, i felt i had it nice and straight when i pushed it on , fired up the wii ..red then green..but no boot or eject, took clip off and examined it and one of the pins inside the clip was bent and pushed sideways, they are very small and would be hard to fix ....i can see where alot of problems would come of this with installs.
Anyway i threw the clip aside and wired up the zero via their wiring diagram on the wasabi site and it seems to work flawless so far , rip's boot like originals, no access drive noise . I used 30 awg wire , kept wires as short as possible , i use verbatim dvd -R media and burn the games @ 2.4x with IMGburn. SoFar i'm lovin my wasabi .... and thanks to canadamods for good service and the free tri-wing. Also got the cyclo ds evolution from them for my daughters ds lite , that seems to work flawless also !!!
Thanks to this site as well, i did alot of reading and was well informed as to what i was doing before i started .

I put a sticker on the bottom of the zero then used a dab of hot glue, that way if you need to remove it it will peel off easier and the sticker isolates the bottom of the chip from contact with anything . I didn't put anything ontop of the chip but instead i stuck electrical tape on the console above the chip (shiney surface ) that way when the wii is fit back together the surface above the zero is covered from contacting the chip. Also helps alot to presolder all your contact points , especially the small ones on the drive board, just a small dab of solder on your iron and touch it to the contact point, presolder wire ends as well.
Good job man !!! Yah you gotta be steady for the small solder points. I installed homebrew and downgraded to 3.2 fw but i didn't have to it was working fine on 3.4 firmware .
I used to think that about the small points as well. Now I think that they are just as easy or easier. The good thing about that little point is that if you prep it correctly and use a tinned iron and a fluxed wire the connection is made easier because there is less solder to melt and flow.
