Drive won't spin up with D2E, Wasabi 2/3, and WiiClip v5b
Hello All
This is my first wii mod. Please bare with me.
I have a D2E v3.3u Wii. I just received a Wasabi 2/3 presoldered onto a WiiClip v5b. When I install the wiiclip, i get a quick red LED, then a solid green LED. However, the drive won't spin up! If I remove the wiiclip, all is fine again. Can someone please help me? I have attached pictures of both sides of the WiiClip.
Thank you!

You will need to use a Magnifying glass to check the wii-clip pins.
Check for any bent pins, horizontally bent pins (these are hard to spot) and mashed plastic. Use a utility or stanley knife to try and straighten it up. Be careful not to break any of the pins. Also the F to Q might need to be redone. The wire also should not pass over the IC like that, so perhaps bend it the other way so it goes along the ouside of the clip area.

No bent pins. I will try to resolder then Q/F tomorrow morning. Given your prior knowledge, do you suspect this particular problem to be the bent pins for the Q/F resoldering? I hate to have to send the chip back to the vendor. I might try a manual installation also. I am a bit nervous about soldering the IC legs, given their size.

the Q/F seems probably, if the pins seem fine then I'd talk to the vendor to see what they suggest. Many will not help if you do something like solder the chip directly and it doesnt work also vs them checking it out.

@andypatterson24
I've had same problem with D2B, wasabi V2 and V5B clip.
I even check every wasabi connection with Clip pins and alternative board positions. All contacts was fine but no signals from DVD.
Finally i try to solder chip directly to the board and everything works ok.
In my case problem was FAKE mod clip...

Have the same problem. Hardwired it without clip. Long CLK wire/short one. If I turn the Wii on/off a few times, the drive spins! And after shutdow, it again wont spin.
andypatterson24, your clip says w-clip not wii-clip and there is NO hologram sticker on the inside of the clip. It's a fake one.

The hologram sticker wasn't always there, before the hologram came it was just a gold qc type sticker.
Also the wiiclips say w-clip , and not wiiclip. And the real ones say v5b , fake ones will say wii-clip.
