damaged wasabi
Hi there hackers
I messed up a wasabi and could do with some help. I pulled off the solder pad at point 2, the part that you bridge to set the chip to PAL and pulled off the trace all the way up to the tiny resistor. Is there still any way I can set it to PAL?
Thanks

Did you pull off both solder pads at point 2? If there's still one pad left, you can run a 30AWG wire between the pad and the trace lead that you pulled off. If both pads were pulled off, you can try to connect a wire between both trace leads. It's a very intricate process, but it's the best way to fix a lifted trace. You could also try to make a connection using a conductive pencil. Just be very careful doing that because you don't want to accidentally make any other connections other than what you intend to.
If there's any way you could take a close-up picture of the area it would help.

Hi madchester,
2 hours ago I just destroyed the "outer pad" of bridge 2, which seems to connect to the outer pad of bridge 1. So this might be easy to replace.
Sorry, no conclusion where the inner pad of bridge 2 connects.
Bye, mikey667.

the outer pad is the ground , but the inner pad is what is important to figure out.

I think it's finished. There's nothing left to solder to up to the resistor. I just received 25 Wiikey 2's, I'll be a little more careful with my next install. Anyway here are the pictures of the damage.

if you can solder to the IC then its the 2nd pin in on the oscillators side. nearest the pads. You just need to short that to ground which I believe is pin 1, so you could just short the two pins together and bypass the pads.
