is there really anything that has a high fail rate, or is it a case by case anwser? i bought a few memorex, since when i had my working mod chip in the past *only worked 1 time, then was fried, since it was defective and it took me ages to get the time, and money to replace it* it accepted them 100%, so i assumed it was best to stick with what i know, someone else said they had high success with them so any one want to help me out a bit?

majority I know do not have much luck with memorex or eventually their laser wears out from them. its best to stick with some of the higher end media.

so many people say it wears out, does that seriously mean in 4 to 6 months of randomly playing, i could kill my drive? or is it a lot more distant?

ok, because i have been using Memorex, and i havnt had a issue
6 months ago i made exactly 1 copy of SMG, on a Single layer disc, and so far playing it i havent had a issue -,_-,
also every game i burn with it works perfectly =x
i just find it hard to believe that the laser dies, or have died so soon for people, when my Sega Saturn which i played Daily, for atleast 10 years, still works perfectly, and a wii can be destoryed like nothing with a few back ups

the dye is what is important, its possible the dye on your memorex is different than what others that do not use it successfully use. But when it comes to lasers the wii reminds me of early day ps2 lasers.

Interesting...
This thread is interesting. I haven't read this on other boards but it makes perfect sense. I have been using Taiyo Yuden's and I still get occasional DRE's during gameplay and some games (in particular EA Sports and MLB2k8 in the same region as my WII) do not loadup unless I use gecko os.
I'll switch over to Verbatim's and see if they solve my bootup issues. This is good info - thanks!
Are there any specific recommendation's on Verbatim's to get (i.e. Manufacturer UPC Codes, Part Numbers, etc) - other than ones not made in India?
Thanks
