Exclamation "An error has occured" message w/ Wasabi v2 + Wiikey v5

Alright, I am at a total loss. I have been dealing with this Wasabi modchip for well over 3 months and I am sick and tired. The first chip was a dud unfortunately, and it took about a month to receive the new modchip that currently resides in my Wii.

So everything is soldered (the f wire) and it is firmly placed. The chip is a for a D2C / D2C2 which my wii's motherboard is.. But here's the problem in more detail:

I load a backup or an original game disk into the wii, it'll read it for about 10-15 seconds, then come up with a black screen stating an error has occurred and to eject the disk. Frequently when the wii is shut off and turned back on it will sometimes not actually turn on, like the screen wont show and the wii motes wont connect but it will still have that green light stating its on.

I'm on my last leg with this, and I'm hoping the people on this forum can help me. I would be deeply appreciative of any help.

Thank you so much in advance.

Is the wasabi chip a v3?
And you say it is on a D2C/D2C2? wii drive?

Never mind the first question...now see it was a v2

Ive used a few different burners with HP dvd-r 16x dvd's, flawless, everything I write works. I have tried different media and get different results, most of the time they work sometimes they don't. The ones that don't work I tried with the HP and they work fine, Luck maybe?????? I would try HP media 16x disks, I do however write them at half speed 8x.

Thanks for the replies so far guys, but there is more to the problem.

It is true that backups aren't working, but the original disks of games are not working either.. So my copies of Brawl and Metroid Prime 3 that I've purchased don't work either.

Thanks once again.. >_<

I had the chip clip v5 and had errors like that also. The errors kept changing, cant read disk, wouldn't take disk. I removed the wasabi chip from the chip clip and directly soldered it to the board, all my problems want away. So FAR!!!!

Okay thanks so far. So do you think if I de-solder it from the clip and directly solder it to the board it will work fine?

If someone thinks that will solve my problems I will happily do it.

Thanks much!

i think your right, the dilemma is for D.I.Y peoples like me who cant solder, we just use the clip and take consequences as they come. in a way its the price you pay for early adoption when things don't work the way you expect. i.e inching and all that s**t
