Wasabi RED light , dead drive, no sign of life..
I bought wasabi 100% solderless chip from canadamods. I installed everything correctly as shown in the video. But my drive does not work with wasabi clip on. It's not recognizing the original wii discs. Light is red and drive does not spin. I don't know how to solder. How do I correct this? Should i contact canadamods for replacement. Please help I am frustrated. Took me so long to carefully open the wii. wish it had worked. As soon as I remove the chip drive works normal. I have D2C Wii

Just make sure that the clip is aligned correctly and that it is firmly but carefully pushed in all the way, it should almost be touching the pcb board of the wii drive.
Spyman from Canadamods is regularly on these forums and will help you out as well.

I have pushed it all the way down. It just turns red.. If I just place it on the chip it is green, If I clip it on correctly and press the power button light turns red and disk does not spin. I have tried many many times. Thanks for the reply though.

i wouldnt keep taking the clip on and off the board as it will just wear down the teeth on the clip...contact seller for help...if you can do some soldering you can try removing the wire from the F to Q point and just solder wire from F point on chip to the F point on the board as shown here

You are right, But you know when it does not work you just want to try again and again. I have clipped it on and off many many times finally gave up. I have emailed the seller yesterday and also have tried calling few times today, phone was not answered but will wait for the email response. I dont have any soldering accessories or soldering know how. That's why I ordered solderless chip. I am very new to all this, was so excited to receive the chip now just frustrated.

The last time I removed a clip and chip from a chip and then put it back on, two pins on the back side of the chip were pushed back against the chip and were unsoldered. If the clip/chip combo doesn't work the first time I take the chip off the clip and throw the clip away.

well I guess it is time to solder on the chip using the wires method cause the clip pins probably got worn down.

Hi abhayz,
I think even for a solderless WII clip, you still have to solder the F wire on the WII clip to the F point on the board.
You may already have done this but just want to make sure.
