Wasabi V3 + V5 Wiiclip for Wii D2E
I just opened my wii and confirmed that the Wii I bought last month contains the D2E chip (GC2-D2E 819P3002).
I am thinking of buying the Wasabi V3 with the Wii Clip soldered on. I have been reading various forums about the mod chips and I read somewhere that I do not need to solder the 1 (J) wire since it is only required for D2C models. Is this information correct?
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes that is correct. The point is fairly easy if you have done some soldering. Super stable after the install.

Hello GMODZ,
Is it true that for any D2C and D2C2 machines that buying either Wasabi 2 and Wasabi 3, you would need to solder the "F" point as indicated in the attached picture?
Also, I'm little bit confused that some posts mentioned "J" point instead of "F" point. Could you please clarify?
thanks

it depends where you buy your wasabi & clip, we have a custom one made that works solderlessly. no wire to solder at all.
Point J is for the d2pro9, Point F is for the wasabi2 rev 3.
We sell both our d2pro9 and wasabi2 in a completely solderless fashion.

FYI, I bought 2 D2Pro9 V3 chip+Wii clips from Canadamods and have been burnt already. Was told that you guys tested all your chips+clip before sending it out. Of the 2 chips, 1 has the inching and clicking issue and wasn't aware that I need to buy D2Programmer to update to new firmware. It's a bummer that I need to spend another $25+shipping to try to get the issue resolve. It doesn't sound the chip is advertised to work properly. I'm so hesitant to recommend any of my friends to mod their WII at all because of that.
The other chip +clip doesn't work on the D2C2 machine at all, this is the chip I bought for a friend to install which didn't work.
I'm now leaning toward Wasabi chip and leaning away from Canadamods.

We do test them out before they ship, but a number of different things can effect the outcome. 1 the way the installation is done, usually the #1 one reason is user error, or incorrect installation which can create mashed/pins etc. 2 the firmware on it at the time of purchase. On our test units the firmware prior to 2.3/1.6 does not give the inching/eject issue. However all the latest firm has been going out with 2.3/1.6 when we became aware of the issue. Anyways if you pm or email us we do offer an inspection and exchange. We also give you the opportunity to get another chip if it works out better or ship the drive to us and we will make sure it works.
Its pretty much all we can do, and much more than many other places would do.
Check your PM and we can set something up.

Hey Spyman,
I'm impressed you guys care about customers and thanks for getting back so quickly. I'm hoping you guys could help me out. I sent you a PM explaining my situations.
If things work out well, I'll definitely continue to buy modchips from you guys. BTW, I was impressed with how fast you guys shipped the modchips to me.
I'm waiting to get help you.
thanks again
