Hi. Console Source sells fake WII-Clip's. Solder wasabi diretly to the board and everything will be ok. I had same problem, i've check every possible connection with chip/clip/board and after soldering wasabi now everything works.

Thanks monarch, yes it does seem like the clip has some problem otherwise there is very little scope of screwing the install. I want to avoid soldering the chip directly , I have Pm'ed spyman would see if he has one .

A big thanks to Spyman for arranging genuine wii-clip's for me, I received v5b clips today from Canadamods nicely packaged . I got the mod chip soldered on this new clip without having to solder the F point to the drive and installed it in the wii , I did not even have to check the LED. I saw the DVD spin and lo-behold it worked flawlessly. I would advise other DIY modders if they want to save headache, money and time, go with Canadamods. Many thanks Spyman.

Well, my celebrations are short lived, yesterday I tried to play a backup game but it prompted me to update , I searched on the web and realised that I need to update to wasabi firmware 1.4 and ensure that updates don't brick the system. After I did that , I tried to play the same game I saw the opening screen come up then there was CD activity ( It was probably moving the lens rapidly) right after, it reported an error. I opened my wii and found that the clip has fallen off. Looks like the fake wii- clip affected the pins on my D2C and now the clip does not stay on or even if I hold it in place, it is unable to play backup games, however it plays from the original CD's. I think I will have to get someone to solder the chip directly without using the clip. How is

Give the Clip a chance, i don't think it's a fake.

Try to push the pins a little bit forward with a needle.
