Buying a Nintendo Wii - Wiihacks

I have found a shop near me that sells Nintendo Wii with D2Pro SPI chip installed.
My question is if this is good and if I can play online if I download games and burn to a DVD-R and I also want to know what I have to do to be sure I dont destroy the console.

You should be good if that's the route you wanna go....You can 100% still play games online and update AS LONG AS YOU STICK TO THE SAME REGION CODE GAMES.....follow that simple step and you will never have to worry....Update from a different region game and you will be on here putting a post up like everyone else about what happened to my wii I can't access my settings anymore.....Good luck

i would recommand that you go to a good store that modds brand new wii and have good support. buying a modded wii is alright but you never know its its used or not. that why i bought a new one and then had it modded, if they sell modded wii then they should also offer a modding service

It says on their site that you can go to the store and try it before you buy.
They sell chips to but they dont chip consoles.

ohh thats too bad, well i guess it alright if they are letting you try it. But make sure you know what modchip you getting as they might say somthing and give you somthing else. since its a d2pro+spi or is it a d2pro9 which is that same but the spi chip comes predoldered from that manfatures. I would also make sure you try the 1.3/1.4 config and see if they work. If they dont make sure they update you chip to 1.1b so it work.

ok, how do you test the configs? and check that I have right ship?

just get a config disk from d2pro9.com and unzip it and burn the iso to a disk at 4x, when you pop on in the wii you will see the wii go into gamecube mode. But if it dosent work the either the chip is not upto date or its the wrong chip. you can also ask them to open the wii so you can take a look at iit but dunno if they will do that.

I called them and they are closed untill 20/8 so im not buying it there.
What is the best chip? Is D2Ckey good?

yes it is but i would recommand a dpro9 or a wasabi 2, people are having issues with d2pro9 v2 even with the lastest firmware update but it has fixed most of the issues, and wasabi 2 i have yet to hear a issues.

don't get the d2ckey unless you have a d2c wii. i reccomend getting it with the wii-clip. It needs no updates and plays all backups perfectly.

modchip-uk and ioffer sells them now.
