Wii mod chip here and wii open! Now what? - Wiihacks

Well it is finally here. I must confess to something though, i opened my wii without the triwing, i kinda forced it

Everything still works but i have the wrong mod chip. (When i did the serial tracker it did not say my wii was GC2-D1) Here is the one i bought. [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]
My wii is pretty old. Heres what it says on the black board's...

I was given this image by, Spyman, and i am very thankful for it. But i am kind of confused, how much i should cut? Does it matter what kind of knife i use? I just want to make sure because i payed a lot of money for my wii and my mod chip.

Enough to sever the traces (the connection). Depends on what you mean by does it matter what kind of knife you use: a regular household knife won't work out well - using a razor set would be recommended.

Of course not. And my wii works fine. I am just having problems with installing the mod chip, i have learned to ask the pros instead of taking advice from people like wuwi....

No, you don't need to cut the same thickness of the blue line. The line was simply indicative of the 3 traces that you needed to cut. You just need to make it so the current can't continue through the the traces - which are essentially wires laid directly into the PCB.

You just want to make sure you don't sever any of the other parts (traces) on the clip. It doesn't need to be ultra deep or anything either. There is a thin layer of coating on top of the traces. If you take a knife or razor and start scratching away on top of those traces you will notice a semi-clear film come off and you will start to see the traces - the actual metal part. You are trying to make sure that that metal is discontinuous; eg. there is a break in the wire.
