D2pro9 Eject issue

Hi guys

Im not sure if this has been discussed in another thread. But im having eject issues with my d2pro9. The problem is when i eject a game, the dvd drive would turn off completly and wont accept the next game. Any ideas? Does anyone have the same issue? THis might be due to 1.4 fw. I only had the 1.3 fw for a day or 2 before i upgraded and didnt notice the problem then. Its happening almost everytime. So i would always have to turn off the wii and turn it back on.

My wii: Pal D2C2 fw 3.2E
Chip: d2pro9 fw 1.4'

Any suggestion to fix issues would be nice. Thanks

Thanx for the reply. So its a common issue. That sucks. Good to hear d2pro team are in the works with an update. Hope this fixes it.

I'm also having some similar issues that I'm hoping some of the experts on here could help me out with.

--Update---
I should note that my eject issue is slightly different than the one described above. With mine, the DVD drive doesn't turn off after it ejects, but sometimes doesn't respond after a game is inserted. Not sure if the whole drive is off, but the blue light on the chip isn't on. It just sucks the game in and then just stops. After waiting for a little bit, the DVD drive will then kick back in, the blue light will come on the d2prov2, and the game will spin up and load.

I have some videos that I'll try to post tonight in case anyone is interested in seeing the erratic behavior.
--/Update--

I have a US NTSC D2C2 v3.1u (I think) with a D2pro9v2 with v1.4 firmware and sometimes on the first boot, the Wii tries to suck the disc in a short amount every couple of seconds. I can see the blue light from the chip lit up when it's in this burst-suck mode. If I stick a game in while it's in the burst-suck mode it will slowly but surely go through the process of sucking the game in and lowering the disc to the laser. The blue light from the chip is still on after the game is inserted. It doesn't spin up the game at first, but if I wait for a few minutes it will start spinning up the game.

Also, when it is sucking in games normally the Wii will often not spin up the disc when it's first inserted, but if I move my finger over the sensor for the disc insertion it will start spinning it up and load it fine.

I verified the solder points continuity with a multimeter, checked for bridges, and even pulled off the three points on the IC, cleaned it up with some desoldering braid, and resoldered the points. The only thing that concerned me is there were two points on the IC chip that seemed to be bridged, but there is no solder connecting them and after doing visual/continuity checks multiple times I assume it's an intentional design of the DVD chip. (See attached picture) You'll notice that they skip a leg on the IC which further makes me think that it's a design bridge, not something I did.

I also have trouble playing some games. I have a mix of backups on a variety of media - all work on my other Wii (older Wii with WiiKey) but only some work on my new Wii. As you can see below, I can't narrow it down to the media type so I'm not sure exactly what the issue is. Here's a list of the games:

Working
Mario Strikers Charged - imation DVD-R
Excite Truck - TDK DVD-R
Mario Kart - imation DVD-R
Wii Sports - original DVD-R
Wii Play - TDK DVD-R
Super Mario Galaxies - TDK DVD+R
Resident Evil 4 - TDK DVD+R

Not Working
Zelda - TDK DVD-R
Red Steel - imation DVD-R
Madden 08 - TDK DVD+R
Lego Star Wars - TDK DVD+R
Super Swing Gold - TDK DVD-R
Metroid Prime 3 - TDK DVD+R
Harry Potter - TDK DVD-R

If I remember correctly, the chip came with the 1.3 firmware. I have since updated to the 1.4 firmware and I am hoping per the other response to this thread that the upcoming firmware will fix some of my issues.

Anyone else have any ideas on my issues? I should note that I bought the chip from CanadaMods who were great to deal with. I've bought a lot of products from FoundMy in the past and decided to finally make the jump and try CanadaMods. Spyman - maybe you have some ideas?

What speed are you burning your games at? Switching from 8x to 4x burn speed solved all readability issues for me with D2Pros, D2C drives, and Taiyo Yuden media.

I tried the Eject fix and it seemed like everything was working fine, but when I went to put the DVD drive back on the console I realized things still weren't working properly. It's almost like the drive just doesn't know what to do - as someone else said, like it's off. It seems like my issue might have something to do with the flat cable. If I lift the dvd drive up an inch or so it starts working -- enough room to make the flat cable pull down a little.

Does anyone know what the one contact point from the D2pro9v2 that goes to the flat cable area does? Point J.

jebise101, where did you hear that there was going to be an update next week that might fix the problem? Is this a firmware update, installation diagram update, or something else?
