Hey, I just recently had that problem too. i couldn't find any configurations to make it work with the clip. the best thing is to desolder the chip from the clip and solder it directly to th 5 points for the d2b

V4C-9 Chip
Hello,
I have tried installing the V4C-9 Chip (with the CLK jumper on) however the drive does not work and I think the fan has stopped too.
After a couple of minutes the Wii displayes an error message telling me to eject the disk and turn the system off.
I reopened the case to make sure everything was connected correctly. It was so I tried again and the same happened.
I have now removed the chip and the Wii is working correctly again. Any idea what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance.

What is your Wii's Drive type (DMS/D2A/D2B, D2C, D2C2, D2E)?

For those drive types, there should only be 5 points that should have soldered to the clip and the CLK jumper should not have been shorted/bridged.
Check out the following thread and alsoany links within it

Thanks, but I'm struggling to find any useful information. The clip I have came with all points pre-soldered (i.e. gnd, 3v3, 5-9, C-P and clk) so will I need to de-solder all but the 5 points you mentioned above (I believe this is gnd, 3v3, H, G, J)?
Also I don't have a soldering/de-soldering iron so if you could recommend a good tool to use that would be great.
Sorry I'm new to this and the clip was given to me as a gift.

You will need a soldering iron to remove solder from the un-needed points.

Hello,
Thanks for your help.
I unsoldered C D E F and 6 5 like the person on the other thread. I still didn't work so I unsoldered CLK and solder a wire from J to the appropriate place on the board and now it is working correctly. Thanks again for all your help.
