I formatted my drive using WBFS Manager 3 (can be found around here somewhere), and then can use that same app to load the ISO's to the drive. Some other member's recommend FAT32 USB laoding, but I found WBFS a bit easier. You'll have to get the app above and format the drive to WBFS format and then adding games is pretty simple. Each ISO is about 4 GB, but when loaded on the drive using WBFS it will be shrunk down anywhere from 0.3GB (lowest I've seen personally) to 4GB. It only transfers the game data I guess, so it doesn't need to use the whole 4 GB. Pretty neat and useful as you can fit more games that way. FAT32 loading is similar as you can convert the games to WBFS and it will shrink them down or something, but I haven't done that so I am unsure. Also I am kinda a Noob at this, so don't hold me to any of this info. Just telling you what I did, and what worked for me. Here are a couple links to read over to make your decision. There are a lot of USB loaders out there to use, from what I read (and what I use) some are: USB Loader GX, WiiFlow, and Configurable USB Loader. I found Configurable USB Loader to be the most reliable and plays some games other loaders don't. If your playing out of region games, be sure to force NTSC in the options. Other then that you should be good to go if you've already modded the Wii. Good luck and read read read, that's the only way your going to understand any of this and become comfortable doing it.

is this the USB3.0/2.0 version? and confirmed it does work with the cIOSx rev17 and rev20?

I also have the 500gb usb3.0/2.0 p/n:WDBACY5000ABK and it currently doesn't work with my Wii, I THINK I'm rev19, but dont' wanna go through the hassle of changing if it isn't working for others. Thanks!

I have the exact same drive and I have the same problem as you, not loading games with USB Loader GX, says something about waiting for your slow drive or similar.
I have tried formatting both to NTFS and FAT32 before WBFS with no luck, WBFS manager and Wiithon detects the drive perfect and placing games on it works also, but when loading games in the Wii....no luck..

Using this drive, I get it to show up using CFG usb loader v61 and cIOSx rev20b. I don't have any games on this drive, its on my other (same model). But at least cfg loader sees the drive.
