Konami's 1992 X-Men Arcade Game Coming to XBLA

    Remember this thing?

The HUGE six-player X-Men arcade game set the world on fire in 1992. Well, at least it set the already-diminishing world of brick and mortar arcades on fire. Still, a six-player co-op beat-'em-up in the vein of The Simpsons and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles combined with mutant powers was a sure winner, even if one player had to be Dazzler.

Good news: Konami is bringing an arcade-perfect version (read: no Re-shelled-style updated graphics) to XBLA and PSN at an unspecified - but probably not too distant - time in the future. Players will be able to jump into the shoes of Wolverine, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, or Dazzler while they try to rescue Professor X and Kitty Pryde from Magneto and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

X-Men will feature drop-in online co-op and multiple difficulty levels. No word on local co-op... yet. Check out the trailer from Marvel's Comic-Con New York panel below. Excited yet?

I dropped out of the arcade scene around '85 or '86, what I wouln't give for a Donkey Kong or Asteroids machine of my own, but the boss probably wouldn't allow one in the house.

I'd like to one day have a game room dedicated to those older arcade systems. They were really something.

You could play it now on the Wii with SDL MAME...But only the four player version.

I have a two slot NeoGeo MVS. Arcade cabinets become an addiction. After obsessing over my first it's kind of hard to convince the wife to let me start a collection.
