Nintendo of America has stated that Super Mario 3D Land (previously known as Super Mario 3D) and Mario Kart 7 (previously known as Mario Kart 3DS) will both be coming out within a month of each other. Land 3D will arrive on November 13th, while Mario Kart 7 will follow December 4th. Both are expected to retail for $39.99 apiece.
Super Mario 3D Land returns Mario to the traditional platforming roots he had back in the Mario Galaxy games on Wii. In it, he'll travel through each stage, either in side-scrolling or 3D fashion (depending on the design of the level), beating enemies while collecting coins and other goodies. The Tanooki Suit will once again be making a return, and judging by what we've played so far, it'll definitely retain that classic feel that we loved back in the older Mario games.
As for Mario Kart 7, the game will not only feature splendid 3D visuals, but will also introduce new flying and underwater driving tactics, as well as the ability to race against other players online through the Wi-Fi Connection. Expect plenty of great track designs as well, stemming from Mario's expansive universe.
Indeed, this one/two punch of Mario is just what the system needs, especially now. Expect big holiday sales from the Nintendo camp with the big plumber behind them...
