I just have one question about the final step "Clean up SD-Card"..
Copy some files to the card to prevent stupid stuf.. ehm what ?

What is the purpose of that step?
Is the SD-Card supposed to stay in the wii forever, or what are you supposed to do with the card and the "clean-up" files?

    Thanks in advance..
Basically, yes the sd-card should stay in the wii forever. It holds all your apps, but a usb drive can be used. The purpose of this step is to remove all of the wii altering applications and wads from the card to prevent people from messing up their wii by mistake. Perhaps go crazy and decide to uninstall all those wads, that would be a very very big mistake. Since the wii is modded, you probably don't need any of that stuff on there anymore.

    Hi Symptom
It is just to stop you (like me) from being curious and clicking on stuff after you softmodded and everything is fine and then actually bricking it.
The SD-Card is suppoesd to stay in your Wii yes. The channels are "shortcuts" to the files on your SD.
Make sure your hacks.ini file is the same file you had on your SD though. The one in the zip file didn't work for me.
Thx again Mauifrog!!!!!! This guide is awesome!

    Ca Works!..

The only Item Im unable to to is the Downgrade to System Menu 4.1, I have the file on the SD card, but not sure how to activate it, the *optional* documentation doesnt tell us anything, the system tries to go to the internet.

Other than that... no HBC, but the wads are installed allowing my HD to work.

    Great fix! thanks!

ok. i've managed until step 4-b.
i pressed Home to launch Bootmii. and the screen went blank.
is it possible to skip this step? or maybe i did not successfully complete 4-a?

If step 4a was succesfull you will see HBC, a blue screen with bubbles, in it you see all apps.
    Do you have that?
If no, you do not have HBC, so start again.

If yes, press HOME there, you will see the button to bootmii.
When you press that and it goes blank, you do not have the installed bootmii files on SD.

If you could install bootmii only as IOS, you can skip bootmii, it is of no use that way.
Do not follow this advice. Install bootmii Regardless of if it can be installed as boot2 or IOS. Bootmii IOS will allow you to make a NAND backup therefor it IS Useful.

No it is not, you can make a backup, but you can never ever restore it with bootmii as an IOS.
    So it is useless.

Look, this is not the place for this and there is no reason to argue. When installed as IOS, you make your NAND backup. Worst case scenario... that nand.bin can be flashed to the nand with a nand programmer.

Also, there is NO good reason not to install it as an IOS. Enough said.

    thanks hetfield and krank.

while waiting for my question to be answered, i actually re-installed bootmii as IOS and boot2. then i loaded HBC, pressed home, saw 'launch bootmii', i clicked on it and the screen went blank again. i checked - i have the installed bootmii files on SD.

so i proceeded to step 5, and while downloading nintendo backup 250 for step 6 (the internet connection here is very slow), i actually managed to play a game through HBC and neogamma.

the question is, what will happen if i did not do the nand backup?
