dont be a lazy nub, and actually look at the titles, Usually look for terms like Fix, or anwser, or something that sounds like your issue
always try to pick topics with lots of replies, usually a topic with 2 posts, is just a question, that might not help you in any way, shape or form
above all, you want to actually read more than 1 topic, if you dont find the anwser, in topic 1 topic 2 might help, it really exists somewhere, you should actually put forth the effort of reading 2 or 4 topics, then maybe it doesnt exist
once you find it, but it seems confusing, check the date, something 6 months ago, isnt always gonna be right.

dont ask for something, and then ask for more info, its not important for you to understand what IOS 38 does, or any of them, just that you know you need it reguardless, if u really want to know you can put forth the effort to search
and most of all, dont just ask for help, and give a minimal detail that exists, or youll end up doing the work anyways, i repeat YOULL END UP GETTING IT ANYWAYS, AND ALMOST EVERY DETAIL YOU CAN GIVE HELPS A LOT!

using stickies as a subject search

Personally, I find that for noobs (such as myself) a forum search is often a waste of time. The reason? It starts from a blatantly false assumption: it assumes that threads are appropriately titled (often, they are not). It also leads me to threads in which people have asked a question similar to mine, regardless of whether they have received a satisfactory answer. Lastly, any answers given in these threads are littered with assumed knowledge, often dangerously so. Any solutions found are invariably confusing and incomplete.
For more experienced users, this is fine. They have no doubt read enough to wade their way through even the most meandering thread and find something of use. However, it has to be recognized that for average users achieving this level of literacy in the subject matter is unrealistic and unproductive.
In my opinion, the best way for noobs to search any well-moderated forum like this one is to search only the most authoritative threads (i.e., sitckies, guides and tutorials, rather than the entire forum). The quality of the stickies is superior to that of the forum as a whole, and the answers they provide are the most complete. Let me provide an example:
I want to remove cIOScorp from my Wii. If I do a forum search for "remove cIOScorp" (without quotes), it correctly lists a thread on removing cIOScorp. Success, right? Erm... not really. I have to read the entire thread to find out if the answer is complete, and if the question is asked by someone with the same region/firmware as mine, and certainly the answer is not complete unless the poster has reported back with complete success. So, I might end up reading several threads to confirm this, and attempt to build a complete picture so that I know how to proceed. This might be "working hard," but it is not "working smart."
It's far better to jump to a related sticky or tutorial and see what it has to offer. So, I go to the tutorial on making your Wii "like a virgin" and do a thread search using one word: cioscorp. A cursory glance at the results reveals the question, "will this remove cIOScorp?" Clicking on that link not only provides me with the answer I need, but it does so in a thread that provides a noob-proof way to do it. I can go from searching for my answer to safely implementing it in a matter of minutes.
Essentially, you are looking at the stickies as if they were subject entries in a library catalog. The first step in finding the answers you need is assessing whether or not one of these stickies might have the answer you need. Then, search only that thread for what you need. If you don't find it, rinse and repeat.

Hi, I'm new, and i don't really know how to use forums, but I think this is a good spot for this... I have spent the last few months working on hacking my wii and I kept all the files I used and put em all in a rar so other people don't have to look...I'm sure someone else did this but the more the better.
I don't take credit for anything in the archive except for the fact that i organized it. All the readme's are written by other people along with the programs themselves.
