Hmm, got my Wii to work with a 160gb 3.5" drive. So I thought I'd switch to a smaller 60gb 2.5". CFG USB loader is working and loads games but can't seem to save settings. Gives errors saving to the drive. Also WiiFlow doesn't work anymore. Thinking perhaps it's filesystem permission settings I need to change on it?

i have a 160gb WD external USB drive which i'd like to make use of. but not sure if my wii has all the necesary IOS/cIOS installed. i'm guessing not as the guide's forwarder install are for cIOS222 and cIOSx 249 Rev19/20?
Thanks for asking about this. I followed Dogeggs softmodding guide too and was at a loss to what desperado836's NTSC guide meant by all the cIOS things.

Your right you don't have the required cIOS as that guide does not install them. Install Hermes cIOS 222 and 223 and use the 222 pack from this guide.
Thanks Krank! for clearing this up. I seriously was stuck and brain fried trying to make sense of what all this means. Your post here fixed all my doubts of what if any cios I still needed. The guide said "all others" use 222 I was wondering if it really meant it!, lol. Anwyway, anyone reading this that followed Dogeggs guide should add 222/223 cios from hermes and follow the 222 part of this guide. Worked like a charm!

    Also:
Total Newbie here with softmodding. I didn't know/realize till later that all those files I unrared onto the SD card would be read by the HBC automatically when I booted up the wii and started HBC. Maybe if something simple was added like, once unrared and onto the SD card, HBC will read the card and find this info. Only thing needed was to install the two forwarder files via wad manager in HBC.

desperado836 Thanks! Once I understood and felt 90% confident, oh man seeing wiiflow and usb config channel afterwards was something else. Weird getting happy seeing a channel install but that was me, euphoric!

Wow was going nuts. This morning wiiflow, usb config wouldn't load any games off the HD. I retraced changes, file renaming, game renaming, even did a checkdisk, nothing. Then recalled I swapped SD cards to backup channels and other stuff. Being such a newb at this I didn't realize I still had to leave the original SD card that I used during install for Wiiflow to work with my HD.

    Please use the Edit function.

Hello everyone, I just got finished soft modding my 4.2u Wii using sonicshadow2 guide. I also applied the upgrades part of his tutorial. I have a WD WDBAAR3200ABK HDD, which I know is compatiable. I have usbloadercfg installed as a channel, but i'm not totally sure on what cIOS I should install to get it to work. Right now everytime I try to load usbloadercfg, it goes back to the system menu. I think I should use hermes 222, but not sure. My HDD is formated with NTFS and my game files are in .wbfs format. Can I use more than one cIOS to load my loaders?

I would like to thank the people who put so much time and effort to make this possible.

that is the label/name for the hard drive, it can be anything, I chose Wii_HDD, so no, you do not connect the Wii to the computer, just the external hard drive to the computer...

Hi, I have a problem, i tried searching a solution but i couldnt find any. So when i start up USB loader GX channel with my HDD attached, it loads and failed to find a USB/HDD, i tried everything and i cant seem to find a solution.

The HDD i know is compatiable, because i tried it on my other wii using the same method and works perfectly, but for the wii im currently doing, does not work.
I used Multi Mod Manager to install all my wads, and cios 222, 223, 224.
    Help, thanks.

EDIT: I figure out the problem, the USB plug input needs to be the other one xD. Thanks for the awesome guide.

Have you tried Wanin's cIOS rev19 or greater? Have you tried a different loader, like CFG or WiiFlow?
