I don't know if anyone knows what cards Micro Center sells as generic branded cards, but I used one of their 2gb cards for all of mauifrog's 4.3 softmod guide and it worked fine.

Where you bought it is irrelevant. It doesn't say who made it on the card itself? There should be a manufacturer sticker right on the front. If not there is probably a model number on the back side with the contacts that you might be able to track it down through.

where I bought it is only relevant because they sell it with their name on it
they are generics and dirt cheap (like 5 bucks or something for the 2gig)
    number on back is 00201200857108

Micro Center - 2GB Secure Digital (SD) Card 920249

    sorry if this isn't helpful

Awesome. Thank you! I didn't realize Micro Center was the brand listed on the card. Like you pointed out I'm sure someone else manufactures it for them but that's unnecessary for my list. As long as it can be identified, used, and purchased by another member that's all that matters to me. Seeing as how your Wii was 4.3 you obviously didn't test Bannerbomb correct?

Correct, in fact my only experience with a Wii at all thus far is following the 4.3 tutorial and testing out a game or two for a few minutes. All of which must be done under cover of darkness in extreme secrecy as this is a christmas present for the kiddos

you can at least try it.
we have a new sd card compability list in the Other FAQs and Tuts sections.
a fresh format with a sd formater tool on your 2Gb cards can help as well.

    <--suggestions helped? press Thanks

The limit on the SD/SDHC card is pretty big if you are 4.0 or above...Up to 32GB. It's just that the Wii itself and some homebrew seems to favor certain cards. There is the compatibility list that I started on here that's kind of small right now and the largest card listed is my 8GB that definitely doesn't work for BootMii. If you are concerned about BootMii and NAND backups there is a specific SD/SDHC compatibility list for it on the WiiBrew site.

Lexar 1GB SD card - works for HBC, and BootMii (to create a NAND), works with the HackMii 1.0.8 installer. (Made in Korea)
PNY Optima 2GB SD card - works for HBC, not tested with BootMii (Made in Japan)
DANE-ELEC 4GB SDHC card - not compatible. At first the card is recognized, but when I load wad manager and try to read the card it reboots back to an empty HBC and then is not recoginzed by the SD card channel. (made in Japan)

I did have a problem with the Sandisk 2GB (white Wii SD card) - it wouldn't work with the RestoreMii part of BootMii to restore my NAND, maybe I needed to format it first but I didn't think of it and used a blue Sandisc 2GB to restore my NAND.

Are you sure that's an Optima Stomp? It looks identical to the 2GB Premium I use and have already posted. I though PNY's Optima series actually says Optima on it like my black Optima 8GB SDHC. It's a Premium if it has SD-M02G on the back.
