Thread: 3.1-3.4 Twilight/Downgrade/Starfall/GammaTutorial

I'm on menu 3.4E - followed instructions
HBC install OK
IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad = OK

BUT:
install cios_fix.wad gave:
>>> Deleting ticket .....ERROR (ret = -1)
>>> Deleting title content... ERROR (ret = -1017)
Press any botton to continue.


Any thoughts on what is wrong?

Emperor Canada... i have problem on step 3!!! i having problem on install on starfall, i click on install then it just sunddenly quit to HBC menu mayb my version is 3.2J!!! skip this step, i patcihng the shop file into my wii then system ask me whether wanan install latest wii shop i oso click yes!! but then after finish intall i freeze on finish intall screen, so i reset my wii then i can't log in the homebrew channel again, it appear blank screen when i try many times again. even i reinstall homebrew channel by using bannebomb and reformat the wii again and install homebrew channel, it oso show blank screen!!! PLS HELP ME EMEPRORO CANADA

I was reading the whole thread but I just couldn't read the all 19 pages
SO I have a question that might have been asked before and for that I Sincerely apologize..
I have a modchipped wii. 3.3U
Have the HBC and burning ISOs on DVDs.. Perfect life EXCEPT that when I got the EA Active game, it won't launch. Disc channel asks me to update.. Even when I tried launching it from Geko os something, it asked me if i wanted to install some weird name update!!!

Did my homework by googling and found out:
1. that I should never update the official wii update
2. that I should use Starfall application to enable the option of skipping updates.
3. Starfall runs on 3.2 soft modded wiis.

BUT I never figured out if the Starfall can work on my 3.3u mod-chipped wii
I was going to give it a try but bricking my wii would make just break into endless tears for like 2 or 3 years (i paid LOADS of money)

Found this forum - it is very helpfull. Lot's of nice info, shame I didn't see it sooner...

I have a Wii with Wi key (think it is 1.9 sw).

The USB loader 1.5 was working, mostly no problems. Games started from my HD.
Some problems with wad files though.
Dl'ed the tetris from the Homebrew Browser, it wouldn't start. Black screen only.
The Homebrew Browser worked from the channel browser, but not directly from the channels.

Sorry for the noob writing here....

Anyways I started downloading some IOS, and some other "test and see what happens stuff". Reminds me of when I got my first PC, downloaded and instaled tons of stuff I didn't need. Slow pc, messed up.

Now I have done the same to my Wii

I wanted to start fresh, and tried the gude found here (3.1-3.4 Twilight/Downgrade/Starfall/GammaTutorial).
I've read that the way to was downgrading from 3.4 to 3.2.

I removed all files on my SD card (maybe that wasnt smart??) and replaced them with the files in this tutorial (here;
You can download files needed for this guide here.).

Down to step 2 everything was working fine.

Step 3
All of this went fine
"[STEP 3] [You should now be on version 3.2 for your region. You're almost done!]

+Load Starfall with Homebrew Channel.
If you read the disclaimer carefully, you will see you are instructed to press B+1 and not B+2. Press B+1 until you get to the next
screen. It is very picky so dont be surprised if you have to keep pressing it a number of times.
At the next screen the most important things to install are the last 3 options. Many people like to just install everything which
is okay too."

I did install with no errors all the options.

So far, soo good.

Then I did this
"+Run cIOS Installer in Homebrew Channel.
This installs the IOS needed by the launcher."

That was a mistake I guess

After that I tried this;
"Skip this step as it is out of date!, get the new shop here. +Load "Install Shop IOS51". Say Yes to installing IOS51 and Yes to patching a fix but No to the Wii Shop Channel. - "

After pressing no to the Wii shop Channel the menu showed "press a key to restart". I pressed, and pressed. Nothing happened.
Tried manualy to shut down, and tried again. Same thing, wii wouldn't reboot.

Tried this "+Load Wad Manager in Homebrew Channel and install:" - but I couldn't open this one.

Tried the SB loader, "error = -1". Looks like the USB loader couldn't locate the USB disc
Tried a couple of other USB loaders, same thing - they can't find the USB disc. Arghhhh....

Any ideas here?
This may be a n00b question, but.... Can I select format the wii drive, and start all over? Kinda like deleting Windows and start fresh...

Or shall I try the guide from the top gain with only the files I started with?

Dunno if it will be of any help to anyone, but it can't hurt to share this I guess.

I fiddeled around for like 3 hours yesterday. I was close to going insane, i almost started eating on my Wii...

Yhe thingh that worked was this;
Cios 36 rev 10. Installed, all worked perfect

boot.dol in the apps folder, and te wad file in the SD root. Voilá - it worked

I was a very happy man...

I am having the same problem... I think I clicked to install the new Wii Shop.

When I go to Wii Shop, the screen goes black for a second, then goes back to the Wii menu.

I can't get into the Homebrew channel at all.

I am / was on a 3.4U Wii with the Zelda hack.
