Get Newest Wii Update IOS51 without the Disadvantages of the Latest Wii Update
Wii Shop and IOS51 installer is a very quick modification of PatchMii modified by Muzer that does one thing: It installs the new IOS51 and Wii Shop Channel, without installing the patches to all the other IOSes. This means that as long as you didn't update, you can now install this to use the Wii Shop Channel but keep all the benefits of not having the update.
Anybody at all could have made this, just everyone is too busy at the moment, so I figured I would make it. It's literally modifying 4 lines of code and commenting out a bunch of stuff. Source code is now available for both Muzer and tona's builds.
This does not have the same effects as updating, so you get the best of both worlds.
You can do this on any system menu version and it will work fine, keeping the system menu version you have.
I made the program as two separate DOL files, because it's easier and quicker for me that way, if this lasts a while I'll make a version that combines the two files. The current build by tona is combined into a single DOL.
NOTE: TAKE OUT ANY GAMECUBE MEMORY CARDS/CONTROLLERS AND USB DEVICES BEFORE INSTALLING ANYTHING. The first time one person installed the IOS51 and Wii Shop Channel, one person had a Gamecube memory card and a wireless adapter in the Wii, and it didn't install correctly. But after taking out all Gamecube items and re-installing everything, it worked fine. Axelpaxel discovered that USB devices caused the same bug.
Instructions: Simply load one file, then the other. It does not matter in which order you load them. Use any method. If using tona's build, simply run the single included DOL to install. Homebrew Channel friendly package.

soo basically this version of firmware just lets u used the wii shop? that about it?
I noticed that my newer games such as tiger wood, de blop, mario brawl and disaster failed to work after i upgraded to 3.3u.
The games were working when i was initially on firmware 3.2.
Wii Console fails to start when those titles were in the disc tray. No issues with older games such as Wii Sport, Mario Kart, etc.
Have someone faced the same issue?
The error msgs are the following:
"The system files are corrupted. please refer to the wii operations manual for help troubleshooting.
An error has occurred. press the eject button and remove the disc, then turn the wii console off and refer to the wii operations manual for help troubleshooting."
All you need to do is run Geko through your sd and load up game through that, they will work fine :-)
yah, i using a mod.
problem was, my gecko seemed to have been bricked by the 3.3u
is there a step by step instructions to to this i want to use the wii shop channel but dont want to upgrade.
somehow i can't install ios shop, keeps getting me an error when trying to install...
Hi, I'm using 3.2U. Successfully installed IOS51 and WiiShop Channel using Tona's installer. Everything went smoothly from downloading until installation complete. However, when I run WiiShop it's just get back to Wii Menu without even loading WiiShop. Any idea?
