Mine's 1TB as well, and actual space is 948GB.

All depends what you have in mind for the drive (or don't in some cases).
Well, either FAT32 or NTFS seem fine with me; I don't mind continuing to run all homebrew apps from my SD Card, but I also don't mind having to split my files that are bigger than 4 GB.

One question though: My HDD originally came pre-formatted as FAT32; would it be bad to ever format it as NTFS? It's a Acomdata PureDrive 500 GB, by the way.

FAT32 is supported by more things, and NTFS support is still a bit unstable.

A little confused when it comes to playing wii iso games off a HD.

First, the wad files need to be on a fat32 partition, what other files would go on there, so I can leave room. So would 2gb be enough for that partition?

Second, all my games are .ISO's.

Should I just use WBFS to put them on the HD? Should I scrub the images?

Third whats the difference between putting them on a fat32 partition and NTFS partition?

Lastley where is a thread/link to a good collection of emulations with a tutorial on how to put them on a HD etc.

I know its all here on the site but there's alot to read through.

    Any little bit helps, TIA.

Thank you both! I was going to create another partition on my drive but the extra work with converting everything to FAT32 was well worth it. My wii needed an overhaul anyway. Now I have CFG usbloader instead of GX, and all my emulators in one space. Outstanding...

Let me see If I can help.
First, are you planning on having your wads on a separate partition? There's no need. I have all the files and folders that were on my SD card now on my usb drive, along with all my emulators, roms and game images.
ISO's can be coverted to wbfs files on the drive for use with loaders. Wii Backup Manager will do that and split them for you if it has to. tutorial is in the original post.
    Fat32 is more stable.
Emulators can be found here: Emulators

When I decided to do this I read the tutorial through a few times to make sure I didn't miss anything. There's alot of info on here and if you dig around enough, you will find the answers you seek. Takes a little extra work, but think of all the work the good people on this site have done to put up these tutorials for us.
