    Hi all

Just like to say AWESOME SITE! Really learning how to make our Wii more enjoyable and family friendly.

I read about 25 or so pages of this thread along with the tutorial and I still come away a bit confused. Here's what I'm in the process of setting up.

Recently softmodded both of the family Wii using Mauifrog's guide. The main one (black) is the "family" unit. Kids play on the thing constantly and I plan on setting it up with a Toshiba 320gb USB (arriving Wed). Plan is to hold somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 or so games give or take.

Dad's Wii has a broken DVD drive, so I softmodded that one also and it's primary use is for playing the various COD games against my son via WFC using a 16gb Flash drive. I formatted the flash with WFBS Manager and it's been working fine, plan on formatting the new USB HDD the same way.

After reading I have a question or 3

Since the USB HDD will be hooked to the "main" unit and used for nothing else but Wii backups, isn't it better to just format the whole drive to wbfs? Is there an advantage to using FAT32 over wbfs? Or maybe I'm just missing the point of this whole thread?

Once again, great site peeps. Has really made the family gaming experience so much better :>) bb

If it's going to be used JUST for playing backups, then there aren't really any advantages. The advantages come when you want to store apps, wads, and/or non-Wii stuff on the same drive. Then you don't have to bother with partitioning the drive as everything can be stored on the one FAT32 partition. I would recommend also having a small FAT32 SD card for your apps and NAND backups (those require an SD card as far as I know).
